Tu miley to poochhoon tujhsey

Posted on: July 22, 2013

“Santaan” (1976) was a De Luxe Films production. It was produced and directed by Mohan Segal. The movie had Ashok Kumar, Nirupa Roy, Jeetendra, Rekha, Satyen Kappu, Bindu, Roohi, Utpal Dutt, Johny Walker etc in this movie.

On the occasion of the 90th birth anniversary of Mukesh (22 july 1923- 27 august 1976) here is a song from the movie. This song is sung by Mukesh and it is a background song picturised in the movie in two parts. If part I is a sad song, then part II is even sadder. Part I shows Ashok Kumar, Nirupa Roy etc being thrown out of their own house by those who they brought up and the song ends with their daughter (or is it daughter in law) dying during childbirth. Part II shows Nirupa Roy dying while people who mistreated them are shown enjoying good fortune. At least that is what I guessed based on the picturisation of the two parts. I request our knowledgeable readers to tell us more about the picturisation of this song.

Verma Malik is the lyricist. Music is composed by Laxmikant Pyarelal.

Lyrics of this song were sent to me by Avinash Scrapwala.

Song-Tu miley to poochhoon tujhsey (Santaan)(1976) Singer-Mukesh, Lyrics-Verma Malik, MD-Laxmikant Pyarelal

Lyrics(Provided by Avinash Scrapwala)

Part I
Har dil mein nafrat bhari hai
koyee dil saaf nahin hai
maalik teri saari duniyaa mein
kahin insaaf nahin hai
tu miley to poochhoon tujhse
kyaa ye hain nyaay teraa
duniyaa ko diye ujaaley
aur mujhko diyaa andheraa
tu miley to poochhoon tujhse ae
ho o

neki karne waalon ko to
milti hain yahaan buraaee hai
neki karne waalon ko to
milti hain yahaan buraaee hai
khudgarzee ke toofaanon mein
Ddoob gayee sachchaayee hai
kisi ki nagari bas gayee dekho
kisi ka lut gayaa deraa
tu miley to poochhoon tujhse
ho o

kitni umangein
laaye they ham
dil mein samet kar
le jaa rahe hain hasratein
kafan mein lapet kar
ab kispey karein bharosaa
jab toone hi moonh pheraa
duniyaa ko diye ujaale
aur mujhko diyaa andheraa
mujhko diyaa andheraa
mujhko diyaa andheraa

Part – II

Teri jhoothi duniyaa ki ham
sab deewaarein tod chale
tujhe mubaarak teri duniyaa
ham to duniyaa chhod chalein
mar kar bhi naa bhool sakenge
ham ehsaan ye teraa
tu miley to poochhoon tujhse
kyaa ye hai nyaay teraa
duniyaa ko diye ujaaley
aur mujhko diyaa andheraa
tu miley to poochhoon tujhse
kyaa ye hai nyaay teraa
duniyaa ko diye ujaaley
aur mujhko diyaa andheraa
mujhko diyaa andheraa
mujhko diyaa andheraa

hullo atul
so u want a background check on this movie…..
it was a very simple movie. Satyen Kappu plays Nirupa Roy & Ashok Kumar’s son. they are bringing up a friend’s daughter (Roohi). she is attracted to Satyen Kappu (Koi aur mila nahin). he takes advantage of it & she becomes pregnant. i don’t remember if she is married to him. very conveniently he goes to the city studies to become a doctor (don’t remember if he is shown to complete the course) falls in love with a very rich and sweet (to him) Bindu. they marry. he lies to her about his roots & parents. he has no idea that he has a daughter growing up under his parents care, (the mother having died at childbirth) she is also Roohi. Jeetendra is his son from Bindu. simple story till here.
then the old couple fall on bad times. they realise that their son is useless to them. so the old man takes up a labourer’s job. falls from some height & goes blind. simple. now it is the turn ofc the old lady to look for a way to sustain a blind husband and grand daughter. so she goes around looking for a house maid ka job. and where will she find it —- of course at her son’s place as his child’s aaya(Nanny). sweet no?!!!!
the young boy of the house is kind hearted. he takes a liking for the old couple and their grand daughter. keeps helping them through his growing up years and even after. 75% into the movie just as the old lady is dying she reveals that she has been working at her Naalaayak son’s place and their benefactor is none other than their own grandson. now it is Jeetendra’s turn to behave nastily with his parents so that they get a taste of their own medicine. in this he is assisted by Rekha(in her ugly duckling days) & her father Utpal Dutt., and then the movie ends with every wrong hearted person realising their mistakes.
sweet simple 4 handkerchief movie no?!!!!!!!

By reading the story plot, it is obvious, it must be a Tamil or Telugu remake. But I know one Kannada remake of this story called
“MAGA MOMMAGA:(son,grandson)(1974)(Starring Leelavathi,Ashwath,Dwarkeesh,Vajramuni,Shailashree,Chandrakala(Credits of this remake movie tells it is a story written by famous Telugu/Tamil director Dasari Narayan Rao,who many stories are remade into kannada,Telugu,Tamil movies)

Mohan sehgal the director of this movie remade one Dr.Raj kumar starrer hit movie GANDHADA GUDI (1973->also starring Late Kalpana,Late Vishnuvardhan)into a Hindi movie KARTAVYA(1979->starring Dharmendra, Rekha,Vinod Mehra:musicLaxmiPyre-got very good songs by Lata & coeg:”Doorie na rahe koyee, bas itnaa kareeb aao”)

Rekha is a favourite heroine of the director of this movie, Mohan Segal->Sawan Bhadon(He introduced Rekha-1970) and also casted her in movies directed by him like,Santaan,Kartavya,Kasam Suhag ki(1989-a lady dacoit movie)

Left one movie directed by Mohan Segal starring Rekha, Navin Nishchol , Padmini Kapila & others->”WOH MAIN NAHIN(1974)” 🙂
