So I have been trying to get the words of this Gulzar number for the last one year. Hope I have got it right. Actually I began writing it for Gulzar’s birthday last year and then found that there are too many words coming out of Roop Kumar Rathod who had to keep up in pace with Nana Patekar’s style of speaking. So I let go of the song last time. And sent another song Itna lamba kash lo yaaron from the same movie. Then I had completely forgotten the whole thing.
Recently I went through the list of songs that I had wanted to share with all in Atuldom and came across the half written lyrics of this Gulzar —- should I call it a masterpiece? This song actually reminds of the song in “Namak Haram”, viz. Wo jhoothha hai vote na usko dena . (That was by Anand Bakshi). Also there is that song of “Aandhi” Salaam keejoye aali janaab aaye hain .
Now I have made another attempt at writing down the song, hope I have not missed anything.
The song starts with a whole lot of Nana style dialogue baazi. He airs his opinion on Siyaasat (politics). He feels that is the only profession (many have made it a profession no?) where there is no retirement. How true!!!!!
So here is this hard hitting song from “Hu Tu Tu” (1999), on the occasion of Gulzar’s birth anniversary today (18 august 2013).

Thank you Peevesie`s mom ji for the lyrics of rarely heard song.
Gaane ke bol likthe waqt, aapko kitni baar gaane ko sun`naa padaa, main ye soch(i.e., hisaab) rahaa hoon.
Gulzar is very unhappy(expressed his unhappiness recently in a reputed film magazine) with the producers of this movie(Time Magnetics).Gulzar said he was not allowed to shoot the climax scenes of this movie, according to his vision.(which in a way took away the total impact of the movie on the viewers)

@Peevesie’s mom ji – thanks for the post ! Gulzar saab’s satirical and hard hitting lyrics says it all about our day to day politics.
the movie, one of my favorite, is a very intense and thought provoking too!
(the lyrics were there with Atul ji since 10.03.13)
