Rooth gaye morey Shyaam sakhi ri

on:“Ziddi” (1948) was a Bombay Talkies production. It was directed by Shahid Latif. The movie had Kamini Kaushal, Dev Anand, Veera, Nawab, Kuldeep, Indu, Shivraj, Kishore Kumar, Amir Banu, Chandabai, Moshin etc in it.
Seven songs from this movie have been discussed in the past. Here is the eighth song from the movie.
This song is sung by Lata. The song is picturised on Kamini Kaushal as a family get together song.
The video of this song is in poor shape and the video as well as the voice is not very clear. The voice does not sound like Lata’s for much of the song. Curiously, even the voice in the audio uploaded on YT does not sound like Lata’s voice. I wonder whether this song was sung in some other voice in the movie ? The myswar site mentions only the voice of Lata whereas there is more than one voice in the song and Lata’s voice appears only briefly. There is mention of Lata with Shamshad Begam in one audio upload of this song on YT. So there is this big confusion where even reputed sites cannot give us correct facts about the singers of this song. I request our knowledgeable readers to throw light on the singers of this song. To make matters more complicated, I have one audio version of the song which is entirely in Lata’s voice ! I request our knowledgeable readers to throw light on the singers of this song in the picturisation.
PS-Another YT uploader mentions Rajkumari and Lata as the singers of this song ! Seeing that the voice did not sound like Shamshad Begam, I have decided to go with the name of Rajkumari for the time being. The more I think about it, it appears that this song is indeed sung mainly by Rajkumari.
Prem Dhawan is the lyricist. Music is composed by Khemchand Prakash.
Lyrics of this song were sent to me by Nitin Shah.

shyam milen to bali bali jaaun
thhum thhum naachoon mangal gaaun
shyam milen to bali bali jaaun
thhum thhum naachoon mangal gaaun
soi preet jagaaun sakhi ri
soi preet jagaaun
soi preet jagaaun sakhi ri
soi preet jagaaun
gokul dhoondhoon
mathura dhoondhoon
bolo main kit jaaun
koi bolo main kit jaaun

aasha aa aa
aasha ke main haar piroti

kshma karo bhagwan

mere tum mujhko mann ki bhool
main durbhhaagan teri daasi

laaj bacha lo meri prabhu ji
rakh lo mera maan
laaj bacha lo meri prabhu ji
rakh lo mera maan
rakh lo mera maan
rakh lo mera maan

Atul-ji, You are absolutely correct in stating that the video recording has two voices, and one of them is Lata. I have an MP3 file made from HMV’s 78 RPM record, which is a Lata’s solo.
I am sending that file to you on your e-mail address for listening.

Hi. I thought that the main voice sounded like Rajkumari. So I did a search for “Ziddi” and “Rajkumari,” and got one YouTube post that attributes it to Lata and Rajkumari:
