“Patang” (1960) was directed by Hargovind Duggal and Hari Prakash for Asiatic Pictures. The movie had Rajendra Kumar, Mala Sinha, Om Prakash, Ullhas, Raj Mehra, Achla Sachdev, Manorama, Leela Misra, Randhir, Mohan Choti, Aruna etc in it.

The movie had eight songs in it. As many as seven songs from the movie have been discussed in the past.

Here is the eighth and final song from the movie. This song is sung by Lata. It is picturised as a melancholic song on Mala Sinha who plays a blind (as visually challenged people were then called in those days when political correctness as a concept was not yet known.

Rajinder Krishan is the lyricist. Music is composed by Chitragupta.

Lyrics of this song were sent to me by Nitin Shah. This is the 500th lyrics contribution by him in the blog. It is a quite an impressive century indeed, like some of the fast centuries scored by Indian cricketers these days. I take this opportunity to congratulate him on behalf of all of us and we hope that he will continue to enrich this blog with his contributions in future as our musical bandwagon continues to chug along.

with this song, “Patang” (1960) joins the list of movies that have all their songs covered in the blog.

Lyrics(Provided by Nitin Shah)

baaghbaan ne aag di
jab aashiyaane ko mere
jinpe takiyaa thha
wohi patte hawa dene lage
denewaale ae
denewaale kisi ko ghareebi na de
maut de de magar badnaseebi na de
denewaale
denewaale kisi ko ghareebi na de
maut de de magar badnaseebi na de
denewaale

huye paida ghareeb
hai ye kis ki khataa
huye paida ghareeb
hai ye kis ki khataa
ham ko duniya men kyun tu ne laaya bataa
kyun hai chup kuchh bataa
kuchh bataa
kuchh bataa
denewaale
denewaale kisi ko ghareebi na de
maut de de magar badnaseebi na de
denewaale

chheen li har khushi aur kahaa ke na ro
chheen li har khushi aur kaha ke na ro
gham hazaaron diye
dil bhi dene ke sau
kar ke ham pe sitam
khush na ho
khush na ho
denewaale
denewaale kisi ko ghareebi na de
maut de de magar badnaseebi na de
denewaale

chhod kar yeh jahaan
bol jaayen kahaan
chhod kar yeh jahaan
bol jaayen kahaan
koi ghamkhaar hai
na koi meharbaan
khud kahe khud sune
daastaan
daastaan
denewaale
denewaale kisi ko ghareebi na de
maut de de magar, badnaseebi na de
denewaale
denewaale kisi ko ghareebi na de
maut de de magar, badnaseebi na de
denewaale

Nitinbhai,
Congratulations on reaching this 5th century!!! What an inning! Tendulkar is retiring from the world of cricket, but our blog has few, who will keep going, entertaining thousands of their fans.
Thank you for sharing your time & knowledge with all of us.
