It is now the turn of redoubtable Lata Mangeshkar to feature in the series. This again is a duet which was lying in the my Drafts folder for sometime. The movie ‘Kar Bhala’ (1956) is making a debut here with this song. The cute ‘roothna-manaana ” duet is written by Majrooh Sultanpuri and composed by Nisar Bazmi-Chik Chocolate.
The song is picturized on Bhagwan – Kum Kum, as per the information available in the excel sheet. Seeing that most other songs are also on the same pair, it can be assumed that they were the lead actors of the film.
This is the only Lata – Rafi duet in the film. There are four more duets of Asha-Rafi, two solos of Asha and one solo for Lata Mangeshkar. Judging by this song’s freshness, the rest of the songs promise to be equally good.
About Lata Mangeshkar, I have long held a belief that it is her perfectionism that has kept her apart from her peers and contemporaries. Flawless voice, diction and matchless dedication to her profession, these are the qualities in her that I admire most.
Over the last six decades she has built a status for herself, a fortress, that nobody can breach. Music Directors and fellow singers came and went. Her title as the ‘ Nightingale of India ‘ has remained unchallenged and will remain so.
