“Panna” (1944) was directed by Najam Naqvi. The movie had P Jairaj, Geeta Nizami, David Abraham, Kusum Deshpande etc in it.

Two songs from this movie has been discussed in the past. Here is another song from the movie.

This is a lovely philosophical song that tells us that every thing in this world is temporary and so there is no use developing attachments for them.

This song is sung by Rajkumari. Wali Sahab is the lyricist. Music is composed by Amir Ali.

Lyrics of this song were sent to me by Nitin Shah.

1. I apologize (in advance) for this question, but, the voice sounds more like Shamshad (more nasal, more powerful) than that of Rajkumari. I am sure that I am mistaken, and I request the combined knowledge of this blog to clear my confusion.

2. Please find enclosed a Video Link to the song; the scene is acted out by (quoting from YT, I have no personal knowledge) Geetha Niazmi.

Once again, my apologies for doubting the OP.

The voice in the video version sounds like Shamshad Begam. The voice in the audio version is that of Rajkumari though. HFGK goes by the record version and so this song is credited to Rajkumari.

I request regulars having HFGK to check up whether it mentions anything about the video version of the song having been sung by Shamshad Begam instead of Rajkumari. myswar just mentions the name of Rajkumar for this song.

Atul ji,
You are absolutely right.
The song in the film was by S.Begum and record was in Rajkumari’s voice.
As per HFGK,singer Rajkumari herself had confirmed this.

The word is ‘faani’ not ‘phaani’ . Even in hindi script the sound is differentiated with a dot.
