Genius of Jaidev
1977 ‘Alaap’, a classic film, produced and directed by Hrishikesh Mukherjee with star cast of Amitabh Bachchan, Rekha, Chhaaya Devi, Asrani, Om Parkesh, Farida Jalal etc had superb music by Jaidev and beautiful lyrics of Dr. Harivanshrai Bachchan and Dr. Rahi Masum Raza. There were eleven songs, and two out of them were in two parts. Since those two songs, viz ‘Mata Saraswati’ and ‘Aayee ritu saawan ki’ were combined and presented for the Blog, all, except the present song, are already covered. I may get first time credit to put ‘Alaap’ in the list of ‘Movies-All songs covered’.

This song is picturized on Rekha, who has given exceptional performance, depicting the feeling of a rural woman. Happy with whatever minimum requirements of life fulfilled, she innocently and playfully muses around the home. The entire song is so simply and superbly picturized, that, no wonder, Hrishida himself has considered this song as his best picturized song.

With that brief introduction, let us enjoy the song for what I think, is having a wonderful tune, lyrics, performance and direction.

Song-Kaahe Manwa Naache Hamra (Aalaap)(1977) Singer-Lata, Lyrics-Dr. Rahi Masum Raza, MD-Jaidev

kaahe manwa naache hamra
kaahe manwa naache hamra
sakhi ri koyi ise ab samajhaaye
kaahe manwa naache hamra
hmm hmm hmm

nayanan kajra daalan baithi
nayanan kajra daalan baithi
maathe pe sooraj paalan baithi
beech mein aaye dekho sapne saanche
kaahe manwa naache hamra aa
kaahe manwa naache hamra
sakhi ri koyi ise ab samajhaaye
kaahe manwa naache hamra

nas nas mein yeh kaun utra hai
nas nas mein yeh kaun utra hai
dil mein kis ka dil dhhadka hai
naama naam ka nisdin baanche
kaahe manwa naache hamra
kaahe manwa

Many Congratulations Bharat Sir – Atul ji on covering all songs of this movie ‘Aalaap- 1977’ and its joining to the ‘list of Movies- all songs covered’.

I am pretty confused! There are 11 songs in the movie. Mata Saraswati song is 2 parts, so needs to be counted as 2 songs. Which other song is either multiple version or multi part? Reason i ask is.. as of now I only see 10 songs posted on the blog for Alaap (1977).
