“Kashinath”(1943) was directed by Nitin Bose for New Theatres, Calcutta. The movie had Asit Baran Mukherji, Sunanda Devi, Bharati Devi, Nawab, Nemo, Puttan, Dilip Bose, Manorama, Buddhadev, Latika Mullick, Bijoli, Jawed Hussain, Radharani, Biren Das etc in it.
Two songs from this movie have been discussed in the past. Here is the third son from the movie. This song is a duet of the “nok jhonk” genre. HFGK mentions the singers name as Asit Baran and other voice. This other voice belongs to that of Bela Bose Mukherji (not to be confused with the actress of 1960s and 70s who is Bela Bose Sengupta) as confirmed by famous record collector Mr Girdharilal Vishwakarma.
This singer could be the same as the wife of Hemant Kumar, but it is not certain. I request our knowledgeable readers to throw light on this matter.

Bela Mukherjee was Hemant kumar’s student turned wife. Because she was also a Mukherjee,Hemant Kumar’s family opposed the marriage saying,” she is sa-gotra” ( of the same Gotra),due to which Hemant and Bela had to do marriage with help of friends,leave his house and stay in a rented one room tenement.
