“Sipahsaalaar”(1936) was directed by J P Advani for Saroj Movietone, Bombay. The movie had Khursheed Bano, Swarooprani, Bibi, Yusuf Effendi, Prabhashankar, Jaani Babu, Balabhai, etc in it.
Here is a rare song from this movie. Details about the singers and lyricists of the songs of this movie are not available in HFGK. But it is mentioned that this particular song was picturised on the characrer of Almas (played by Khursheed). Lisening to the song, it is clear that the voice is very much Khusheed Bano’s. Only the audio of the song is available and from the sounds of it, the song appears to be a mujra song.
HFGK entry mentions that Dialogues and lyrics in the movie were written by Munshi Rafiq and Munshi Shaam and the breakup of songs among them is not known. So we do not know who is the lyricist of this song.
Music director is known, though. Meera Sahab composed the music in this movie.
Here is this rare song, which has to be one of the oldest mujra songs in HFM.
