“Bemisaal”(1982) was produced by Debesh Ghosh and directed by Hrishikesh Mukherji. The movie had stars Amitabh Bachchan, Vinod Mehra, Raakhee, Deven Verma, Aruna Irani, Om Shivpuri etc in it.

This movie had come at a stage in my life when I was on the verge of getting cut off from watching movies. Though I watched this movie, I do not remember much of the story line of this movie. On finding out the details of this movie online, I find that this movie was a remake of a Bangla movie “Ami Se O Shakha”(1975) starring Uttam Kumar which was based on a Bangla story of the same title penned by Ashutosh Mukherji.

Though I have watched this movie when it was first released, I had no recollections of its story. I became aware of its story only just now after reading the story in wikipedia.
Here is the story of this movie as contained in wikipedia:

Dr. Sudhir Roy (Amitabh Bachchan) and Dr. Prashant Chaturvedi (Vinod Mehra) meet Ms. Kavita Goel (Raakhee) on a holiday and start meeting her regularly. Though he himself was interested in Kavita, Sudhir recommends Prashant to her for marriage. When she asks why he himself can’t marry her, Sudhir narrates his flashback.

Sudhir was the second son of a poor school teacher and hopes that his big brother would get a job and provide for them. But when his big brother becomes mentally ill and his father dies, he resorts to petty thieving. When police catch him, Magistrate recognizes him and adopts him. Sudhir grows up along with magistrate’s son Prashant and receives same education and becomes a pediatrician. Now he tells her that he can’t marry her on medical grounds as his brother was a psychiatric patient and he has a criminal background.

Kavita and Prashant marry and Prashant leaves for London tor higher studies while Sudhir stays in Bombay to take care of magistrate and Kavita. After coming back, he starts medical practice and charge more money from patients especially to do illegal abortions. Sudhir tries to reason with him but he wouldn’t listen. One day Prashant’s patient dies during abortion and he gets arrested. Sudhir tells police that he was the actual culprit and changes all hospital records to prove that. In return he takes word from Prashant and Kavita to use medical profession to serve people, not to earn money. They give him their word and do exactly the same. Sudhir gets nine year sentence and loses his medical registration.

After nine years Kavita and Prashant welcome Sudhir from jail along with their son.

The movie had four songs in it. Three of the songs have already been discussed in the past.

Here is the fourth and final song from “Bemisaal”(1982). The song is sung by Kishore Kumar, Suresh Wadkar and Lata. the song is picturised on Amitabh Bachchan, Vinod Mehra and Rakhi on locations in Kashmir.

Anand Bakshi is the lyricist. Music is composed by R D Burman.

With this song, “Bemisaal”(1982) joins the list of movies that have all their songs covered in the blog.

ye kashmir hai
kitni khoobsoorat ye tasveer hai
arre mausam bemisal benazeer hai
ye kashmir hai
ye kashmir hai

parvaton ke darmiyaan hain
jannaton ke darmiyaan hain
aaj ke din hum yahaan hain
parvaton ke darmiyaan hain
jannaton ke darmiyaan hain
aaj ke din hum yahaan hain

saathi ye humaari taqdeer hai
kitni khubsurat ye tasveer hai
ye kashmir hai ae
ye kashmir hai

is zameen se aasmaan se
phoolon ke is gulsitaan se
jaana mushkil hain yahaan se

Congratulations Atul ji on covering all songs of ‘Bemisaal-1982’ …!!!

I like both Jurmana and Bemisal from the same team of Hrishida,Amitabh,Rakhee,Vinod mehra,Pancham,In Jurmana Amitji`s character is somewhat grey as the film starts and changes at the end. And In Bemisal, Vinod Mehra`s character gets greyish……….Anyways both the movies got very good acting by cast and good music by Pancham and as usual very good direction by Hrishida and also carries very meaningful dialogues, especially in Bemisal, I like Amit ji`s character calls Rakhee as “SAKHI” I love that, and in one more scene from Bemisal, Amitabh does something wrong and Rakhee makes him to ask “Maafi” by touching her feet,

Just watch that scene of Rakhee and amitabh and their On-screen chemistry and Hrishida`s direction

(from 8:30 from onwards… of above video link)

The Production house/producers of both Jurmana and Bemisaal are also same I think……….
