“Khaandaan”(1942) was directed by Shaukat Hussain Rizvi for Pancholi Pictures, Lahore. The movie had Noorjahaan, Ghulam Mohammad, Manorama, Ajmal, Durga Mota, Baby Akhtar, Ibrahim, Nafees, Pran, Krishn, Chami, G N Butt etc in it.
“Khaandaan”(1942) had ten songs in it. Nine songs from this movie have been discussed in the blog. After that I hit a wall because the tenth and final song from the movie was not available on YT or elsewhere. HFGK, which had details of the remaining songs of the movie had no details about the singers and lyricist of this song.
These days I have been receiving a welcome shot in the arm in my bid to cover all songs of movies thanks to the iitiative of Mr Sadanand Kamath. He is finding out rare songs and uploading them on YT and is sharing their links with me. That is how I was able to discuss the elusive final song of “Zameendaar”(1943) the other day.
Now, the elusive final song of “Khaandaan”(1942) too has been uploaded on YT by him. This song was made available on Dr Surjit Singh’s site by Mr Giridharilal Vishwakarma, the famous record collector.
As mentioned earlier, details of singers of this song are not mentioned on YT. The voices in the song are mentioned as that of Shamshad Begam and Ghulam Haider. The female voice could even be Noorjahaan’s (going by the context of the movie) but it is difficult to say for certaincy because this song is not there in the video of the song that is available. I request our knowledgeable readers to throw light on the picturisation of the song.
I have failed to get one word (may be more words) right in the lyrics of this song. I request our readers with keener ears to help fill in the blanks/ suggest corrections wherever applicable in the lyrics.
With this song, “Khaandaan”(1942) joins the list of movies that have all their songs covered in the blog.

I agree with Sadanandbhai’s quote “The voices in all these songs do not come ANYWHERE CLOSER to Noor Jahan when she sang ‘tu kaun si badli mein mere chaand hai aajaa’ from the same film.” unquote.
I had written about this point of view earlier while covering and discussing songs of Noorjehan. (It may have been NOT noticed then. !!!)

Atul ji,
It has now become real challenge to correctly identify the female singer of this song as well as earlier two songs from this film which have been discussed sometime last week. I get a mixed signal of voice – some places it sounds closeer to the voice of Shamshad Begum and at few places especially around the words ‘bolo bolo’ the voice sounds closer to Noor Jahan.
However, one thing which is clear from the voice in this song as well as earlier two songs from the film. The voices in all these songs do not come anywhere closer to Noor Jahan when she sang ‘tu kaun si badli mein mere chaand hai aajaa’ from the same film.
