This post will finally bring the ‘curtains down’ on the recent ‘Banglore – Gang out’ series. The memories of this ‘gang-out’ (and for me – of the visit to Bangalore) will remain with us forever though.

The post has been delayed, first for uploading of the image and then due to other occasional posts. It is now exactly a month for the gang out and already a new gang-out to be held at Mumbai is being eagerly looked forward to by regulars. Let us enjoy the memories of the Bangalaore gangout till then.

As mentioned in my earlier post I had thought of this plan of a ‘collage of autographs’ of all attendees of the ‘Banglore –Gang out’ of 2nd Oct’16.
And as per original plan the image of this ‘collage’ was to be uploaded with the audio of the song for ‘gang-out’ post.
However, I noticec an interesting development (to be pointed out later in the writeup) which made me to decide that I needed to have a separate post for it.

Since the idea of this ‘autograph collage’ was mine, I had to put my autograph first. As I started to write the ‘title’ of the collage there was an interesting suggestion by Gajendra ji. He insisted that before putting an autograph everybody has to write down something or something like a message for the ‘gang-out’ day …

It came to me as a pleasant surprise when Gajendra ji asked us to write down the message, but then this was also an opportunity to write down something of our interest or simply put our ‘man ki baat’ 🙂

I took this opportunity to start with my favorite so I write down ‘Gaata Jaaye Banjaara’ (title of Sahir Ludhianvi’s anthology)…
And mine would always have been a ‘philosophical one’!!

Next it was Shenoy ji’s turn and he put down these beautiful lines “Geet gaata hoon main, gungunaata hoon main, maine hansne ka vaadaa kiya hai” …
Well that came as a firm affirmation from his side!!

We are aware that Srinivas ji has joined us very recently (according to the ‘standards of the blog’ 🙂 , the term our Leader Atul ji uses for films after 1975 or late seventies).
So, for Srinivas ji, his ‘party’ at ASAD has just started and his best is yet to come. We look forward to him for more, so very appropriately he writes down
“Abhi to saji hai muraadon ki duniya” …

And wait … wait … here comes our beloved Raja Saab and he too (like me 🙂 ) is philosophical “Geet gaata chal o saathi gungunaata chal”,

But, as we go down here, we go more upwards in this ‘philosophical mood’ and so Mrs.Shenoy has this message for us “Zindagi ek khwaab hai”,

But above all came the following lines from Peevesie’s Mom ji,
“Zindagi kaisi ye paheli / Kal kya hoga kis ko pataa”…

If it would have ended here, I think I would have considered discussing one of the many songs containing the word ‘zindagi’. We were then “interrupted” we got busy on the ‘main events’ of the day …

Later we resumed the autograph collection exercise to cover the three attendees who were still left over. Out of the three, two new members i.e. Mrs.Avinash and Mrs.Srinivas put their autographs only and since they did not write anything it was assumed that they had seconded the messages written by their respective husbands 🙂

As the day progressed with the ‘main events’ of the ‘gang-out’ viz. ‘Quizzes’, ‘watching movie’, only Gajendra ji was left to ‘finish’ the ‘collage’. I had carefully kept the paper handy and I was holding it with me to spring it on Gajendra Ji at the opportune moment.

Gajendra ji was in ‘full flow’ after his ‘quiz’ so he decided to call it a day only after an assurance from others that ‘we are going to repeat it again’ and ‘meet again at regular intervals’ …. Alongwith his signature, he wrote
“Lovely meeting everyone
Banjaaron ki mehfil aise hi hoti rahen”

If he had written ‘phir milenge’ or ended at only ‘lovely meeting ..’ I would not have felt the need for this post as we already had planned a song ‘phir milenge jaanewaale’. But I noticed that that the opening and closing ‘message’ in the collage had the word ‘banjaara’ figuring in them.
bangalore-gangout-collage

And that gave me the idea that we needed to conclude the discussion of this gangout of ‘Atul’s Banjaarey’ with an appropriate song, viz a song containing the word “Banjaara” in it.

I was looking for a ‘philosophical song’ containing the word ‘banjaara’. I in fact consider the word ‘banjaara’ itself a philosophical one :). Instead of going for a profoundly philosophical song, I have chosen this ‘straight forward’ light hearted “banjaara” song. This song has the added qualification attached to it- it is a song with the voice of Kishore Kumar in it). I hope that you all will enjoy this song.

Incidentally, I just realized it that both the ‘gang out’ song posts written by me have been picturised on screen on Jeetendra and Neetu Singh ( 🙂 Seventies , after all !! )

The movie:-

‘Dharam-Veer-1977’ was directed by Manmohan Desai for S.S.Movitone, Bombay.
It had Dharmendra, Jeetendra, Zeenat Aman, Neetu Singh, Indrani Mukherjee, Sujit Kumar, Jeevan, Ranjeet, Dev Kumar, Chand Usmani, Azad, Hercules, Sapru, B.M.Vyas, Neelam, Pran, Sheru (Bird),and Pradeep Kumar in a special role.

This movie had total six songs, out of which two songs have already been posted on the blog. Lyrics for all the songs were written by Anand Bakshi and music was composed by Laxmikant-Pyarelal.

Today’s song is sung by Kishore Kumar and Lata Mangeshkar. This one being the only Kishore Kumar song in this movie, other songs in this movie have voices of Asha Bhonsle, Lata Mangeshkar, Mohd Rafi and Mukesh.

This is one of the films that I watched during my growing up years and its songs are nostalgic and brings back memories for me…

Let us now enjoy the today’s song. It is a coincidence that today happens to be the birth anniversary of Laxmikant. So this song serves as a tribute to him as well.

Such a heartfelt nostalgic post. I feel like I was there watching all this happen. Very good choice of song as well, Avinashji.

Avinashji
that is a very good round up of the only part of the gangout (was wondering how it got left out) that was your brainchild. all the other things were “aap jo bole haan toh haan” that means with your permission.
and i loved the coincidence– 2 songs of Jeetu – Neetu–what a treat. dhanyawaad
