“Shaheed”(1948) was directed by Ramesh Saigal for Filmistan. The movie had Chandramohan, Dilip Kumar, Kamini Kaushal, Ram Singh, S L Puri, V. H. Desai, Shashi Kapoor (senior), Raj Adeeb, Prabhu Dayal etc in it.
Two songs from the movie have been discussed in the past. Here is the third song from “Shaheed”(1948) to appear in the blog. This song is sung by Lalita Deulkar. Qamar Jalalabadi is the lyricist. Music is composed by Ghulam Haider.
The song is picturised as a standard grand piano song where a lead actor plays and sings a song seated on the said musical instrument while others (including the beloved of the singer) are present on the occasion. In this case, it is Kamini Kaushal lipsyncing the song for the benefit of Dilip Kumar while other family members and close relatives are also present, who wait patiently for the song to end, so that they may express their approval or lack there of, perhaps ? 🙂
