“Chakori”(1949) was directed by Ram Narayan Dube for Ramesh Pictures. The movie had Nalini Jaiwant, Bharat Bhushan, Om Prakash, Cuckoo, Manorama, Randhir etc in it.

The movie had eleven songs in it. Six songs from this movie have been discussed in the past.

Here is the seventh song from “Chakori”(1949). This song is sung by Rafi. Mulkraj Bhakri is the lyricist. Music is composed by Hansraj Bahl.

Only the audio of this pathos filled song is available. I request our knowledgeable raeders to throw light on the picturisation of this song.

Song-Dil ki dil mein hi rahi…preet laga ke chale gaye (Chakori)(1949) Singer-Rafi, Lyrics-Mulkraj Bhakri, MD-Hansraj Bahl

Lyrics

dil ki dil mein hi rahi
baat na hone paayi
roothhe saajan se
mulaaqaat na hone paayi
dil ki dil mein hi rahi
dil ki dil mein hi rahi
baat na hone paayi
roothhe saajan se
mulaaqaat na hone paayi
dil ki dil mein hi rahi

khelte dil se rahe
haaye samajh ke khilauna
khelte dil se rahe
haaye samajh ke khilauna
chal diye tod ke dil
de ke mujhe ye rona
baat sochi thhi jo
wo baat na hone paayi
roothhe saajan se
haaye
mulaaqaat na hone paayi
dil ki dil mein hi rahi

samjhi apna thhi jinhen
wo na huye mere apne
wo na huye mere apne
samjhi apna thhi jinhen
wo na huye mere apne
wo na huye mere apne
dekha karti thhi main jis
raat ke haaye sapne
haaye taqdeer ke
wo raat na hone paayi
roothhe saajan se
haaye
mulaaqaat na hone paayi
dil ki dil mein hi rahi

dil ki dil mein hi rahi
baat na hone paayi
roothhe saajan se
mulaaqaat na hone paayi
dil ki dil mein hi rahi

Director is Ram Narayan DAVE. He was the younger brother of the more famous Producer-Director Ravindra Dave.

Dave brothers and Mulk Raj Bhakri and many others associated with Lahore film industry became the victims of partition and they migrated to India leaving their assets in Lahore. It was Mulk Raj Bhakri who reorganised the displaced film artists from Lahore to start from the scratch in India. Hence, one would notice that in most of their films of 1949, they worked as a team, Ravindra Dave being producer/director, Ram Narayan Dave being director/production controller and Mulk Raj Bhakri being screen play/dialogue/song writer.

‘Chakori’ (1949) was produced by Ravindra Dave under the banner of Ramesh Pictures. M R Bhakri wrote screen-play and dialogues in addition to lyrics.

Mulk Raj and his director brother Lekhraj were also instrumental in making their nephew, Manoj Kumar, into a star with Fashion, Panchayat, Honey Moon, Maa Beta etc.

His son, Mohan Bhakri also made lots of B-grade horror movies in 80s, Cheekh, Sau Saal Baad, etc
