Today (15 april 2021) is the 99th birth anniversary of Hasrat Jaipuri (15 April 1922 – 17 September 1999).

Hasrat Jaipuri penned over 1000 songs in Hindi movies from 1949 (“Barsaat”) till 2004 (Hatya: the murder ).

Majority of Hasrat Jaipuri songs were with Shankar Jaikishan. Most of them have already been covered in the blog. We need to look at movies of 1970s to come up with Hasrat Jaipuri songs penned for Shankar Jaikiszhan.

“Yaar Mera”(1971) one of the few movies that still offers us opportunity of discuss Hasrat Jaipuri songs composed by Shankar Jaikishan,

“Yaar Mera”(1971) was produced by Raja Ram and Satish Wagle and directed by Atmaram for RS Productions, Bombay. The movie had Jeetendra, Rakhee, Nazima, Helen, Paintal, Achala Sachdev, Jayant, Sajjan, Randhir, Murad, Sulochana Sr., Nana Palsikar, Radheshyam, Narbada Shankar, Krishan Dhawan, Manmohan, Raj, Darshan, MS Mehta, Fordil, A Kumar, Ram Sindhi, Mona, Ashok Bhalla. etc in it.

The movie had five songs in it. Three songs have been covered in the past. This fourth song is sung by Rafi. Hasrat Jaipuri is the lyricist. Music is composed by Shankar Jaikishan,

The song is picturised as an eve teasing song where Jeetendra is seen making passes over Raakhi.

I have mentioned in the past that picturisation of such eve teasing songs followed a certain pattern. The lady would be seen taking serious exception throughout the song, only to relent during the penultimate line of the song. But things were seemingly becoming more liberal by 1971. Here Raakhi is seen responding to the advances of Jeetendra from the second stanza itself. Times they were a changing in HFM, as we can see from this picturisation. 🙂

Lyrics of the song were sent to my by Avinash Scrapwala.

Song-Haay kuchh aisi adaa se wo mera yaar chala (Yaar Mera)(1971) Singer-Rafi, Lyrics-Hasrat Jaipuri, MD-Shankar Jaikishan

Lyrics(Provided by Avinash Scrapwala)

Haaye kuchh aisi adaa se
Wo mera yaar chalaa
Har taraf shor huaa
Maar chalaa
maar chalaa
Wo chalaa
wo chalaa
Haaye wo chalaa
Haaye kuchh aisi adaa se
Wo mera yaar chalaa
Har taraf shor huaa
Maar chalaa
maar chalaa
Wo chalaa
wo chalaa
Haaye wo chalaa

Gussa karta hai to
Kuchh aur sanwar jaata hai
Gussa karta hai to
Haaye
Kuchh aur sanwar jaata hai
Khud bakhud phool sa
Chehra bhi nikhar jaata hai
Badgumaan ho ke mujhise mera dildaar chalaa
Har taraf shor huaa
Maar chalaa
maar chalaa
Wo chalaa wo chalaa
Haaye wo chalaa

Hamne dekhi na kahin
Haaye
Aisi gulaabi aankhen
Hamne dekhi na kahin
Haaye
Aisi gulaabi aankhen
Maikadaa jhoom uthhe
Hai aisi sharaabi aankhen
Dard jo dil ka mitaa de wahi gamkhwaar chalaa
Har taraf shor huaa
Maar chalaa maar chalaa
Wo chalaa
wo chalaa
Haaye wo chalaa

Peechhe mud mud ke mujhe
Dekhe hi chalaa jaata hai
Peechhe mud mud ke mujhe
Haaye
Dekhe hi chalaa jaata hai
Pyaar aata hai mujhe
Jitna bhi wo tarsaata hai
Mera qaatil
mera imaan
Mera sansaar chalaa
Har taraf shor huaa
Maar chalaa
maar chalaa
Wo chalaa
wo chalaa
Haaye wo chalaa
Haaye kuchh aisi adaa se
Wo mera yaar chalaa
Har taraf shor huaa
Maar chalaa
maar chalaa
Wo chalaa
wo chalaa
Haaye wo chalaa
