#The Decade of Seventies – 1971 – 1980 #

Today’s song is from the ‘1980’ movie ‘Kashish’.

I have never heard of this movie until I joined this blog as a lyrics contributor in 2012. During my daily browsing of songs those days, I came across a song from this movie written by none other than Gulzar Saab and I immediately shared that song to Atul ji, and it was posted on 06.03.2013 on the blog. This song was sung by Mohd Rafi and I liked this song very much. However, after that song, no other songs from this movie have been posted so far.

“Kashish (alias ‘The Attraction) – 1980” was directed by Amin Choudhary for ‘Film Art International, Bombay’.

It had Naveen Nishchol, Reena Roy, Vinod Mehra, Chris Macliod, A.K. Hangal, Dr Shreeram Lagoo, Achala Sachdev, Narendra Nath, Sashikala, Patrick Macclo, Johny Whisky, Mitthu Sen, Sheli Desai, Bhim Sen, O.P. Malhotra, Lalit Kohli, Manohar Rathod, Pradeep Kochar, Jo Chiramont, Rin Chin, Michael O’ Brian, Fan Rizo, Mister Batra and others.

Rajni Sharma and Rama Vij appear in special appearance in this movie.

This movie was passed by Censor Board on 16.04.1980.

This movie had three songs one written by Gulzar and two written by Anjaan. (However, as per HFGK Vol-V, LP records released for this movie have five soundtracks released including one of dialogues and one of theme music of this movie).

Following is the list of song this movie has.

SNo Song Title Singer/s Lyricist Posted On
01 Kisi aasmaan pe to saahil milega Mohd Rafi Gulzar 06.03.2013
02 Hmm…do pardesi anjaane se Suman Kalyanpur, Kishore Kumar Anjaan Being covered in this post
03 Pardes mein jaa ke tu piyaa pardes piyaa Asha Bhonsle Anjaan

As mentioned above only one song from this movie has been posted earlier on the blog.

Today 11th April’2022 is the seventy-sixth birth anniversary of actor Naveen Nishchol (11 April 1946 – 19 March 2011). Had he been alive he would have turned seventy-five today. He passed away on 19th March’2011 in Mumbai.

Earlier, I had written a post about him on the blog. So I would not like to repeat what I have said earlier in my post. However I would to repeat once again that whenever Hindi Film History of the decade of seventies is discussed his name will always be there. Many of his movies have good music too and many songs from his films brings back memories for people like me who have grown in the years of seventies.

Today we will listen to a song picturized on Naveen Nishchol and Reena Roy from ‘Kashish’. This is a romantic song and I guess it is shot on foreign locations. I hope readers will enjoy this song.

Lyrics for today’s song are by Anjaan and music is composed by Kalyanji-Anandji. This song seems to be a familiar but a lesser heard song.

Let us enjoy the song now …

Song-Do pardesi anjaane se (Kashish)(1980) Singers-Kishore Kumar, Suman Kalyanpur, Lyrics-Anjaan, MD-Kalyanji Anandji

Lyrics

hmm mm mm
laa laa laa aa aa
laa laa laa laa

ho ho o ho o
o o ho o
laa laa laa laa laa laa aa

do pardesi
anjaane se
do pardesi
anjaane se
lagte hain kyun pehchaane se
o o o o
saathiyaa re ae
main bhi na jaanoon
tu bhi na jaane
koyi bhi na jaane

do pardesi
anjaane se
lagte hain kyun pehchaane se

koyi chehra dekhe to
koyi sapnaa yaad aaye
koyi sapnaa yaad aaye
sadiyon se jo bichhdaa
koyi apnaa yaad aaye
koyi apnaa yaad aaye
desh begaanaa
desh begaanaa
log paraaye
man ka meet kahaan mil jaaye

saathiyaa re ae
main bhi na jaanoon
tu bhi na jaane
koyi bhi na jaane
do pardesi
anjaane se

lagte hain kyun pehchaane se

chubhte hain kyun badan mein
phoolon ke narm saaye
phoolon ke narm saaye

baadal se pyaas barse
lehron se aanch aaye
lehron se aanch aaye
jeevan mein ye
jeevan mein ye
kya din aaye
apni saansen aag lagaayen
saathiyaa re ae
main bhi na jaanoon
tu bhi na jaane
koyi bhi na jaane

do pardesi
anjaane se
lagte hain kyun pehchaane se

jhilmil se ye ujaale
gumsum se ye andhere
gumsum se ye andhere
un hunh
kehte hain door rehna
par rehna saath mere
par rehna saath mere

paas bhi aake
paas bhi aake
paas na aayen
do dil kyun pyaase
reh jaayen
saathiyaa re ae
main bhi na jaanoon
tu bhi na jaane
koyi bhi na jaane

do pardesi
anjaane se
do pardesi
anjaane se
lagte hain kyun pehchaane se

Good song indeed. I heard the other song from this movie, that u have mentioned in the post. That was the surprise:- Gulzar collaborating with K-A.
But both the songs seem to have been played on vividh bharati in those days

Yes this song is a nice one. I found it a little familiar after I listen to it, but I do not remember to have heard this song frequently or even regularly on radio in recent years.
Thanks for liking the song and your comments on the post.
Regards,
