Today’s song is from the ‘1976’ movie ‘Bundlebaaz’.

This movie had made its debut on the blog on 18.09.2012 with a lovely song ‘naghmaa hamaara gaayegaa ye zamaana’.
After the above song the second song from this movie was posted on 18.07.2017 which is yet another lovely song ‘bemausam bahaar ke din kaise aaye’.

‘Bundlebaaz’ had four songs only and when I shared its first song in 2012 I had also shared one more song around the same time in 2012-2013. This is the song we are going to listen and enjoy today.

“Bundlebaaz” or ‘Bandalbaaz-1976’ was directed by Shammi Kapoor for ‘Pushpa Pictures, Bombay’.
It was produced by H.A. Nadiadwala.

It had Shammi Kapoor, Rajesh Khanna, Sulakshana Pandit, Johny Walker, Asrani, Ranjit, Farida Jalal, Dev Kumar, Pinchoo Kapoor, Kamal Kapoor, Mukri, Lalita Pawar, Mushtaq, Tuntun, Abhimanyu Sharma, Hangama, Moolchand, Viju Khote, Jerry, Bihari, V. Gopal, Haroon and others.

Story and screenplay of this movie was written by K.K. Shukla and dialogues were written by Kader Khan.
Editing of this movie was done by Pran Mehra.

This movie was passed by Censor Board on 04.12.1976.

As mentioned above this movie had four songs written by Majrooh Sultanpuri and composed to music by R.D. Burman.

Here is the list of songs this movie had and the singers for the respective songs.

SNo Song Title Singer/s Posted On
01 Ruk ruk ruk meri jaan, kidhar jaata hai naa jaa Kishore Kumar
02 Ho … kya huaa yaaron gareebi ke ham paale hain Kishore Kumar, Asha Bhonsle
03 Naghmaa hamaara gaayegaa ye zamaana Lata Mangeshkar, Mohd Rafi 18.09.2012
04 Bemausam bahaar ke din kaise aaye Lata Mangeshkar, Kishore Kumar 18.07.2017

So far two songs from this movie have been posted on the blog.

Today’s song is the third song from this movie to be discussed on the blog.

Earlier when I noted the lyrics for the today’s song and watched it I was guessing about the song situation, because the words ‘baatliwaala’, ‘dibbewaala’ in the lyrics made me think that this must be a song by a ‘scrapwala’  (and yes it is!) 

During the preparation of this post I came across the story of this movie on ‘memsaabstory.com’. Let us have a look on the interesting story line of this movie till the today’s song…

“Our story opens at college, where an impoverished student named Raja (Rajesh Khanna) dreams of making it big and winning his true love Nisha (Neetu Singh look-a-like Sulakshana Pandit).
His rival for her affections, Ranjit (Ranjeet) is the class bully and a cheat; but Ranjit’s father and Nisha’s father are close friends and want their children to get married when they graduate. Raja’s roommate and best friend Gopal (Asrani)—also poor—knows the truth of his circumstances, but Raja has fooled everyone else into believing he has a rich father (as most of them do). After he graduates he returns to his village, where he discovers that his sister Malti (Farida Jalal) and his aunt (Lalita Pawar) are being harassed by the local moneylender to repay the money lent to them for Raja’s education, or he will force Malti to marry him. Raja is overwhelmed at their sacrifices.

He returns to Bombay to find work so he can send money home, and is befriended by Sulaiman (Johnny Walker), who buys bottles and boxes for recycling, and teaches Raja the trade. Raja begins earning money and sends some home to his village. He also meets Gopal again, but doesn’t contact Nisha since he is too poor to court her. When he does run into her (as of course he must), she is going into a New Year’s Eve masquerade party, and thinks that his bottle vendor outfit is his costume. She drags him in with her, where he is tormented again by Ranjit, and further realizes the gulf between himself and Nisha (he entertains with a lovely song, “Kya Hua Yaaron”).”

(Interested readers can enjoy the story of this movie on ‘memsaabstory.com’)

Coming back to today’s it is sung by Kishore Kumar and Asha Bhonsle and it is lip-synced by Rajesh Khanna and Sulakshana Pandit respectively.

We can see Ranjeet, Pinchoo Kapoor, Mukri and many others during the picturisation of this song.

Let us now enjoy this wonderful musical composition by Pancham Da …
