Today’s song is from the movie “Toofaan-1975”.
I have vague memories of watching this movie in my childhood. But I do not remember the movie, its songs, or its story. What I remember is the hero wearing a mask (Zorro type mask) and riding a horse, with a sword in his hand (?).
I had in one of my earlier post on the blog mentioned earlier that I get to watch the movies ‘Do Khilaadi-1976’, ‘Double Cross-1973’ and ‘Toofaan-1975’ on back to back days at small town ‘Malkapur’ in the ‘Vidarbha’ region of Maharashtra (somewhere around 1976-1977).
My parents were on tour to this place for their ‘Marathi play’ to be staged there. I must be around eight-nine years old then. I and my brothers get to watch these movies then. As I mentioned earlier, I carried the memories of one song (or rather their ‘mukhda’ only) each from ‘Do Khilaadi’ and ‘Double Cross’ and from this movie ‘Toofaan’ I remember the masked hero only and the name of the hero i.e. Vikram.
Today I present the first song from this movie ‘Toofaan-1975’ on the blog and this movie is making a debut on the blog today.
‘Toofaan-1975’ was directed by Kedar Kapoor for ‘Sargam Pictures (Pvt.) Ltd., Bombay’.
It had Vikram, Priyadarshini, Roopesh Kumar, Jagdeep, B.M. Vyas, Jeevan, Jayraj, Trilok Kapoor, Sajjan, Rajan Haksar, Abhijit Sen, Rajan Kapoor, Kirti Kumar, Shetty, V. Gopal, Shriram, Ramlal, Vijay Khanna, Urmila Bhatt, Praveen Pal, Meena T., Bahnumati, Sujata and others.
This movie was passed by Censor Board on 28.05.1975.
‘Toofaan-1975’ has seven songs, all of them penned by Ravindra Jain.
Ravindra Jain also composed the music for this movie.

Today’s song is sung by Mohd Rafi. It is an ‘introduction type’ song and its lyrics are very simple and straightforward. ( I listen to the other couple of songs from this movie and I find they also have very simple and straightforward lyrics 😊. Our readers will be able to listen to them on the blog as and when they are posted here).
On screen we see the ‘masked hero’ lip syncing this song ( because he doesn’t take out the ‘mask’ and so his face cannot be seen 😊, but he must be Vikram – the hero of this movie 😊 ).
We do not have any option to watch the song as it is because the hero is telling us in the song that ‘karoon main to apne hi jee ki, chaahe kuchh bhi ho anjaam’ 😊. We can see the hero travelling riding on a horse through different terrains and waiving people (villagers) and taking care of them and helping them.
( I guess this movie must have been inspired by the character of ‘Zorro’. We have one more movie like this 😊 )
