#the Decade of sixtees – 1961 – 1970 #
————————————————————————

I was looking for a song from ‘seventies’ or specifically from the year ‘1970’ for presenting a song with this post.

So here is a song from the year ‘1970’ which is from the movie ‘Deedaar-1970’.

This song is also a lesser heard song because I do not remember to have listened to it earlier. But, this song deserves to be a better known song. You will agree with me once you watch and listen to this composition.

Here is a brief about this movie ‘Deedaar-1970’.

“Deedar-1970” was directed by Jugal Kishore for his home producitons ‘Jugal Productions’.
It had Anjana, Premendra, Dheeraj, K.N. Singh, Kumud Tripathi, Wasti, Leela Mishra, Mirza Musharraf, Brahmachari, Badri Prasad, Jayshree T., Ram Soni, Shahgul, Chetan, V. Morey, Habib, Meenakshi and others.

This movie has seven songs written by Verma Malik and composed by Usha Khanna.

Four songs from this movie have been posted earlier on the blog. Today’s song is the fifth song from this movie to be posted on the blog.

I am sure that I have not watched this movie. When I checked about the earlier posted song I find that I am not familiar with them except the Mukesh song ‘tere honthhon ko teri laali ko’ which I am familiar with and it is in the album of ‘All Time Greats-Mukesh’ – a two cassette set by HMV bought in the eighties.

Today’s song is sung by Shyama Chittar. Jayshree T is seen performing on the song. Also seen in the picturisation of this song are Dheeraj, Habib, and others.

I was not aware about the singer Shyama Chittar and very less information is available about her on the sources. While looking for more details about her I became aware that she is the sister of Suman Kalyanpur. Her voice appeared in songs in movies viz. ‘Dooj Ka Chaand-1964’, ‘Tarzan Ki Mehbooba-1966’, ‘Choron Ka Chor-1970’, ‘Sant Gyaneshwar-1964’, ‘Nadirshah-1968’, ‘Murder In Circus’, ‘Shri Krishn Arjun Yuddhh-1971’ and others.

While many articles on the blog mention about her being the sister of Suman Kalyanpur, I am reproducing the text from two songs posted on the blog.

(‘jhaankti hai meri aankhon se qazaa chhan chhan ke’)

The eighth and final song is a special song as well. It is sung by the Hemmadi Sisters Suman and Shyama Hemmadi, who after their marriages became known as Suman Kalyanpur and Shyama Chittar respectively. The two sisters, though not as prolific as the various Mangeshkar sisters in singing together, have sung together twice in HFM. The first occasion was in “Dooj Ka Chaand)”(1964) and later in “Deedaar” (1970).
Here is the first of these duets sung by the two sisters. Sahir Ludhianvi is the lyricist. Music is composed by Roshan.

(‘ye chaand to mridang hai taare hain manjeere’)

This fantastic song is a romantic duet which is sung by Rafi and Shyama Hemmadi. Shyama Hemmadi, later Shyama Chittar, is the younger sister of Suman Kalyanpur. Like Suman Kalyanpur, Shyama Hemmadi’s voice too sounds like Lata, never a good idea for her singing career. No wonder she has sung very few songs and all her songs are extremely obscure.

Today we add one more song sung by Shyama Hemmadi/Chittar on the blog.

Lyrics for this song were sent by Prakashchandra.

Let us enjoy this lively Cabarat dance song by Shyama Chittar…

(laughing sound)
is rang bhari mehfil mein
hai daawat har matwaale ko
is rang bhari mehfil mein
hai daawat har matwaale ko
yaa tumko pee le pyaalaa
yaa tum pee jaao pyaale ko
chhalkaa aa chhalkaa aa ke pee jaa
kuchh rang jamaake pee jaa
paani milaake na pee ee
aankhein aen milaake pee jaa

(laughing sound)

pehloo oo mein aake pee jaa
sabko dikhaa ke pee jaa

(laughing sound)

dil se dil mil jaanaa hi
aakhir chaahat ban jaati hai ae
dil se dil mil jaanaa hi
aakhir chaahat ban jaati hai
jab do baadal takraate hain
tab hi bijli lehraati hai
takraa takraake pee jaa
lehraa lehraake pee jaa
paani milaake na pee ee
aankhein aen milaake pee jaa

(laughing sound)

pehloo mein aake pee jaa
sabko o dikhaa ke pee jaa

khaamoshi ka munh khol de tu
maahaul mein khushiyaan ghol de tu
khaamoshi ka munh khol de tu
maahaul mein khushiyaan ghol de tu
ye waqt nahin chup rehne kaa
jo bolnaa chaahe bol de tu
kuchh gungunaake pee jaa
kuchh muskuraake pee jaa
paani milaake na pee ee
aankhein milaake pee jaa

(laughing sound)

pehloo mein aake pee jaa
sabko dikhaa ke pee jaa
paani milaake na pee ee ee
aankhein milaake pee jaa
