#the Decade of Fourties – 1941 – 1950 #
————————————————————————
In this post I once again present a song from the year ‘1947’. Ever since I became aware that in this year ‘1947’ there were maximum number of movies released in a single year, and this record was only broken in the year ‘1985’ (reference Shri Arunkumar ji’s post on the blog) I have become curious to go through the songs of ‘1947. And also try to bring more from ‘1947’ on the blog.
That also gives me an opportunity to listen to songs which I have not listened to so far or refresh my memory for the songs those I have heard earlier and those I am familiar with earlier.
In this post, I am presenting a song from the ‘1947’ movie ‘EK Kadam’.
One song from this movie has already been posted on the blog earlier on 14.12.2017.
I am reproducing the text below about this movie and its songs which Atul ji has mentioned while presenting the first song from this movie on the blog.
“Ek Kadam”(1947) was directed by Ramnik Desai for ‘Sunrich Productions, Bombay’. This “social “movie had Damyanti Sahni, Ansari, Raj Kachlu, Gayatri, Baburao etc in it. Neither the movie nor the actors ring any bells. That is how obscure this movie is.
Even the numbers of songs in this movie are not known. HFGK lists six songs and leaves blanks indicating that the movie had other songs as well whose details are not known.
I am adding below the detail of the six songs that HFGK Vol-II (1941-1950) has mentioned for this movie.
Mohd Rafi
SNo | Song Title | Singer/s |
---|---|---|
01 | Chalo biraadaro chalo | Various artistes |
02 | Kaate naa kate re mora dinwaa | Kusum Mantri, Zohrabai Ambalewali |
03 | Ek kadam aur ek kadam | Shamshad Begum |
04 | Tub hi rah main bhi | Shamshad Begum |
05 | Panchhi bhool gaya wo gaana | Shamshad Begum |
06 | Ab phir se, phir phir se yaad aaye kyun | Shamshad Begum |
As mentioned in HFGK Vol-II (1941-1950) the lyricist for this movie was Avtar Visharad and music for this movie was composed by Prakash Nath Sharma.
Today’s song is sung by Kusum Mantri and Zohrabai Ambalewali.
The song is a nice song wherein the girl is expressing her feelings to her saheli and telling how she is excited about the ‘piya-milan’.
Only the audio of this song is available.
