Parakh 1987 was produced by DS Obhan for Nath Pictures, Bombay, and is directed by Vijay Kapoor. It starred Sarika, Vijayendra, Simple Kapadia, Narendra Nath, Madan Puri, Leela Mishra, Baby Pallavi, Jagirdar, Urmila Bhatt, Jagdeep, Asit Sen, O.P. Bharti, Ali Masood, Dhumal, Sunder, Shivraj, Padma Khanna, Laxmi Chhaya, etc.

Parakh (1981) is a family drama built around relationships, misunderstandings, and moral dilemmas.

The story centers on a wealthy and principled man, often portrayed as someone who values honesty and integrity above all else. He lives with his family, including his children, and believes strongly in testing (“parakh”) the character of those around him—especially when it comes to trust, loyalty, and love.

As the plot unfolds, conflicts arise within the family due to misunderstandings, ego clashes, and hidden motives. Romantic relationships also play a role, adding emotional tension and complications. The patriarch, wanting to ensure that the people around him are genuine and not driven by greed or selfishness, puts them through various moral tests—sometimes directly, sometimes indirectly.

These “tests” expose the true nature of each character: some prove their sincerity and goodness, while others reveal deceit, ambition, or weakness. The narrative builds toward emotional confrontations where truths come out, relationships are strained, and values are questioned.

In the climax, misunderstandings are resolved, and the characters who demonstrate honesty and love are vindicated. The film ends on a moral note, reinforcing themes of integrity, trust, and the importance of understanding one another beyond appearances.

Overall, Parakh (1981) follows a classic melodramatic structure typical of its time, focusing on family values, emotional trials, and the ultimate triumph of truth and righteousness.

One song from this movie has already been posted on the blog. Here’s the second one – “Hone Laga Hai Mujhe Aap Ka Nasha” is sung by Hemlata and Kishore Kumar. While it is written and composed by Ravindra Jain.

The song is lip synced and performed by Simple Kapadia and Vijendra Ghatge, while Sarika sitting at the table watches them.

Song-Hone laga hai mujhe aap ka nasha (Parakh)(1987) Singers-Hemlata, Kishore Kumar, Lyricist-Ravindra Jain, MD-Ravindra Jain

Lyrics:

hone laga hai
mujhe aap ka nasha
arre hone laga hai
mujhe aap ka nasha
main behakne lagoon toh
sambhaliyega jaan-e-wafa
main behakne lagoon toh
sambhaaliyega jaan-e-wafa
youn hee na deeje
apne ko sazaa
arre youn hee na deeje
apne ko sazaa
jo haqeeqat khul jaaye toh
saara nasha ud jaayega
jo haqeeqat khul jaaye toh
saara nasha ud jaayega

hone laga hai
mujhe aap ka nasha

aap kahenge ya main keh doon
mehfil ke yeh baad
aap kahenge ya main keh doon
mehfil ke yeh baad
ab toh aap ke sang katenge
apne din raat
lootenge mil ke hum
pyaar ka mazaa
arre lootenge mil ke hum
pyar ka mazaa
main behakne lagoon toh
sambhaaliyega jaan-e-wafa
main behakne lagoon toh
sambhaaliyega jaan-e-wafa

koi bhee nasha
achha naheen hota
kyun ke nashe kee umr kam hotee hai
khwaabon kee tarah
woh jab toot jaaye
aankh bechaaree
khoon ke aansoo rootee hai

main toh hasoongee
roye meree bala
arre main toh hasoongee
roye meree bala
jo haqeeqat khul jaaye toh
saara nasha ud jaayega
jo haqeeqat khul jaaye toh
saara nasha ud jaayega

dil kee dhadkan badh chalee hai
ab toh keh bhee deejiye
dil kee dhadkan badh chalee hai
ab toh keh bhee deejiye
yeh sharaarat dillagee yeh
hum se youn na keejiye
humne parakh liya
dil mein rakh liya
heera ek anmol
humne parakh liya
dil mein rakh liya
heera ek anmol
kaun hai woh
kya naam hai uska
raaz yeh denge khol
dilbar hamaara aa
yahin baitha hua
arre dilbar hamaara
yahin baitha hua
jo haqeeqat khul jaaye toh
saara nasha ud jaayega

mere dil ko bada haseen dhoka hua
yeh kya hua
