Mukesh and his NFS – 16
It is common knowledge that Mukesh won a total of four (4) Filmfare awards.
Now, can anyone guess what is common to the 4 songs that fetched him the coveted trophies? I shall give some moments to readers to ponder over the question.
Some readers may jump the gun by stating that the composers were the same. However, it is not the right answer as the score for his 4th and last award for Kabhi Kabhie was provided by Khayyam saab. So then, what’s the common feature in the 4 songs?
To make things simpler, I produce below a table of the said songs.

I have not come across anywhere the trivia question that I am asking. So maybe it’s a factual figment of my own imagination (oxymoron).
Anyway, I give more time to readers and meanwhile here are a few interesting facts on Mukesh’s Filmfare awards.
• Mukesh was the first male recipient of Filmfare award for Best Playback Singer in 1959. He received this award from Egyptian President Gamal Abdel Nasser who was the Chief Guest at the 7th Filmfare Awards.
• He is probably the only playback singer to have won this award posthumously. For Kabhi Kabhie (1976).
• As long as he was alive, all the 3 filmfare awards that he owed and won were under the composition of Shanker-Jaikishan.
Now, coming to the answer to the question, please note that all the 4 songs are Shirshak Geet or Title Songs from the respective films. This may not be any dramatic revelation, but it is quite interesting to note that all the four songs which fetched him the Filmfare award were Title Songs.
There are a lot of interesting but unfair trivia regarding Filmfare awards for best playback singers. I shall write more on it in my next post.
