#the Decade of Fifties – 1951 – 1960 #
“Bambai Ki Billi-1960” alias ‘Wild Cat’ was directed by Zahur Mohammad for Super Pictures. It was produced by Aspi Irani. It had Kumkum, Sudhir, Mukri, Heeralal, Nazima, Uma Dutt, Pal Sharma, Shakeel Nomani, Tun Tun, Babu Raje, Sagar, Chandabai, Shri Bhagwan, Bajid Khan, Nazeer Kashmiri, Bagla, Narayan, Jalezar, Ajit, Balaram, Dinsha, Bachu Bhai, Andalib, Jilani, Ashalata and others. This movie was passed by Censor Board on 16.11.1960. This movie has seven songs written by Hasrat Jaipuri and composed by Khayyam.
This movie ‘Bambai Ki Billi-1960’ was Khayyam Saab’s thirteenth film as a music composer. Before this he had already composed music for twelve movies which were released before this movie. These twelve movies included some well-known films like ‘Foothpath-1953’, ‘Dhobi Doctor-1954’, ‘Tatar Ka Chor-1955’, ‘Lala Rukh-1958’ and ‘Phir Subah Hogi-1958’.
‘Bambai Ki Billi-1960’ had made its debut on the blog on 03.01.2013. However, So far, only four songs from this movie have been posted on the blog. Today I am presenting the fifth song from this movie which is in the voice of Lata Mangeshkar. Lyrics are by Hasrat Jaipuri and music is by Khayyam Saab. Only audio of this song is available. The songs seems to have some interlude music based on like a ‘garbaa/dandiyaa’ song, but I was guessing it as a ‘mujra song’. Knowledgeable readers can throw more light on this song and the composition please.
