“Miss Coca Cola” (1955), it turns out , had the same storyline as “Aaya Saawan Jhoom Ke” (1969). Interestingly, “Miss Coca Cola” (1955) flopped miserably, wheras “Aaya Saawan Jhoom Ke” (1969) was a big success at the box office.

“Miss Cocacola” (1955) was a Danny Production movie. It was directed by Kedar Kapoor. Starcast of the movie included names like Shammi Kapoor, Geeta Bali, Lalita Pawar, Om Prakash, Johnny Walker, Helen,Kuldip Kaur, Kamal Kapoor, Mumtaz Begum. This movie was Shammi Kapoor’s movie from his pre stardom days and a movie where he acted opposite Geeta Bali, his would be wife. Unfortunately the prints of this movie are not available. Not just public, even Shammi Kapoor had not seen this movie and it was Shammi Kapoor’s fond wish to be able to see this movie.

“Do Dilon Ki Daastaan” (1966) is by now an obscure movie. This movie was a production of Pradeep Kumar and his brother under their banner viz Deep and Sandeep Production. Pradeep Kumar directed the movie and the starcast included names viz. Pradeep Kumar, Vyjyanti Mala, Om Prakash, Jagdeep, Rehman, Shashikala, B. Nandi, Nazir Hussain, Tuntun etc.

Given that during most of the 50s, C Ramchandra was very favorably inclined towards Lata, I was just wanting to find out what is the earliest that he had used the voice of Asha Bhosle. I did a quick scan of the films for which C Ram has composed music, in the Geet Kosh, from 1950 onwards. And unless I made a mistake in my scanning, the film ‘Meenaar’ in 1954 seems to be the first time that Asha Bhosle has sung for C Ramchandra. If not mistaken, then this is likely the first such occasion.
