“Ustaadon Ke Ustaad” (1963) was produced by an ambitiously named Production house called Films & Televisions, seeing that there used to be hardly any network of Television in India those days. Thnkfully, they at least produced Films, if not TVs or TV Serials. “Ustaadon Ke Ustaad” (1963) , which was directed by Brij, had Ashok Kumar, Pradeep Kumar, Shakila, Anwar, Sheikh Mukhtar, Amar, Shakeela Banu Bhopali, Helen, Johnny Walker etc in it.

“Howrah Bridge” (1958) was a landmark movie in the annals of Hindi movie club songs. This movie had not one but two club songs that went on to become immortal clu songs. One was of course the Helen song Mera naam Chin Chin Choo and the other was the Madhubala song Aayiye meharbaan (Howrah Bridge) .

I came across this song a few hours ago. And I wondered where this song was hiding all these days from my view.
This is a nice club/part dance song from “Parvarish” (1958). The song is sung by Lata and Manna Dey. Hasrat Jaipuri is the lyricist and the delightful music is composed by Dattaram.

“Faisla” (1965) is a B grade movie which had Jugal Kishore,Jagdeep, Sheikh Mukhtaar etc. Later, this movie was remade in 1970s as “Dada” (1978).
Both these movies had music by Usha Khanna.

Here is a Helen song with a difference.In this song, Helen is not performing a cabarat or even a mujra. Rather she is emoting like a “normal” actress. Yes, Helen had a big enough role in this movie called “Kahin Din Kahin Raat” (1968).

Think of Sheikh Mukhtar, the hero of so many ‘Dada’ and ‘Ustad’ movies, the proverbial angry young man of the 50s and 60s ‘B’ screen Hindi movies long before Amitabh got that tag in the 70s and 80s. Now think of the same he-man in a skirt dress and bob cut hair? And dancing the twist, and pat-a-cake, no less?
