Today’s song is from a film from the early era of the first decade of the Talkie films – Postman aka Abhilasha-1938. First of all, let us take a look at what was happening in 1938, in the Hindi film industry….

1938 was an interesting year in the early life of the Talkie films. The film making studios had firm footing with a studio system and they tried a variety of subjects in their films. In the 88 Hindi films produced in 1938, one finds almost every Genre of film subjects, except perhaps the usual Folk stories and Historical themes. Comedy, Tragedy, Fiction, Jungle stories, Costume, Socials, Musicals, Mythologicals, you name it and you had it. Content and technical expertise had improved as films on famous novels were made.

This is once again a very very rare song sung by the one and only Kishore Kumar. The song is penned by Naqsh Layallpuri and composed by Sapan Jagmohan.

A few days ago I had introduced this movie on the blog with this song.

As mentioned in my earlier post, “Siskiyaan” (1982) was produced and directed by Rana Jung Singh. It had music by Sapan Jagmohan. The songs were written by Naqsh Layallpuri, M G Hashmat and Shiv Kumar Saroj.

Mukesh and his NFS – 05

Sometime back, I had written about Mukesh’s collaboration with composer Lachhiram Tomar. Here is the said post.

As detailed in the post a 33 second couplet as a background rendition on a female character was all that Mukesh sang for the composer in films. The rendition remains uncredited in the film.

I have already covered the composer and his works with Mukesh in the abovementioned post. As such, this post is being continued in my other series on NFS. Needless to say, the post has to be read in conjunction with my earlier post on Lachhiram.
