“Dulhan Ek Raat Ki” (1966) is a Taxila production movie which was directed by D D Kashyap. This movie was supposedly based on a Thomas Hardy novel (according to imdb). The star cast of the movie has names like Dharmendra, Nutan, Rehman, Leela Chitnis, Niranjan Sharma, Kanhaiyalal, Tabassum, Mumtaz Begum, Johnny Walker etc.

“Nishan” (1965) is a B grade film, produced under the banner of Wadia Brothers Productions, Bombay, and directed by Aspi Irani. The star line up include Sheikh Mukhtaar,Sanjeev Kumar, Nazima, Prem Chopra, Helen, Mukri, Sulochana, Heeralal, Shammi, Ratnamala, Uma Dutt, Mitthoo Miyan etc. The film boasts of some very hummable and memorable songs. Lyrics for the songs are created by Jawed Anwar and the music composition is by Usha Khanna. It is interesting to note that Jawed Anwar is the pen name of Manohar Lal Khanna, the real life father of Usha Khanna.

When I was a kid, then my musical likings were very clear. I only liked new movie songs, preferably sung by Kishore Kumar. I disliked old songs, and I also disliked songs based on folk music, which I regarded as rustic music not worthy of a city slicker like me. 😉
