Though I have seen the movie “Jugnu” (1973), I do not much remember the songs of this movie. While looking for deewali songs, I found that this movie indeed has a deewali song, and that too a happy deewali song. I wonder how I do not remember this song despite watching this movie.

There have been many very good ones but as we know, not all good songs end up being popular with the masses. One need look no further than many of Manna Dey’s songs which were of extremely high quality but whose popularity was largely limited to the classes, not the masses.

This song from “Shahanshah”(1988) wears many hats. this song is not only the movie opening song, this is also the theme song as well as the title song. In addition this song is also the introdution song that introduces us to the main character of the movie, viz Shahanshah, played by Amitabh Bachchan.
