DRISHTI (1990) was produced and directed by Govind Nihalani who was also the cinematographer of the film. The star cast included those actors who at that time, were usually associated with parallel cinema. Shekhar Kapoor and Dimple Kapadia were in the lead roles of husband and wife while Mita Vashisht and Vijay Kashyap were in the roles of another couple. Irfan Khan, Neena Gupta, Navneet Nishan and Tabassum Mansoori had small but important roles in the film. It is said that the film was a remake of a TV Series ‘Scenes from a Marriage’ (1973) directed by Ingmar Bergman. The film failed at the box office but was critically acclaimed. The film won the National Film Award for the best feature film in Hindi.

“Sabse Bada Rupaiyya”(1955) was directed by P L Santoshi for Alhaad Chitra, Poona. The movie had Shashikala, Agha, Alhaad, Sundar, Nana Palsikar, Achala Sachdev, Krishnakant, Kundan, Raja Gosavi, Haroon, Ramkumar, Vijaybala, Premlata, Rajni, Hira Sawant etc in it.

The film stars Amitabh Bachchan, Rekha, Chhaya Devi, Sanjeey Kumar, Asrani, Farida Jalal, Om Prakash, Manmohan Krishna, Master Ravi, A K Hangal, etc. It is one of the best offerings of MD jaidev’ in his marvelous career. Dr Rahi Massom Raza and Harivanshrai Bachchan provided the lyrics for the songs.

A long time ago there was a song “Bachpan ke din bhula na dena” (Deedar 1951). Then there was “Bachpan ke din bhi kya din thhey” (Sujata 1959). Well we generally remember everything that happens in our life (good bad or ugly). But the good things of life we definitely do not forget and say “These are a few of my favourite things” (The Sound of Music – I only know the 1965 movie). Now all these movies mentioned above were before my time but the songs I have referred to from them are true to every one I suppose.

“Babu” (1985) was a remake of a Tamil movie of 1971 of the same name which was in turn remake of a Malayalam movie of 1965 (called Odayil Ninnu).
“Babu” (1985) was produced by V R Parmeshwaram and directed by A G Trilokchandar. The movie had Rajesh Khanna, Hema Malini, Rati Agnihotri, Madan Puri, Rajendranath etc in it.
