The Indian general budget was presented day before yesterday on 1 february 2018. As happens on occasions like this, we had lots of discussions on this on social media. Here is one budget related observation that got forwarded on whatsapp:
Budget summary in three lines
-Lower class gets subsidy !
-Upper class gets Rebate !!
-Middle class only gets TV debates

It turns out that similar observations were made in a Hindi movie song as far back as in 1953. 🙂 The movie was “Daana Paani” (1953) which was directed by V M Vyas for Sunrise Pictures Production. It was a great day yesterday. 🙂 The sun completed its journey cycle of the southern hemisphere, and slowly started to edge over the tilt of the earth’s axis and initiated its journey of the northern hemisphere. The Uttaraayan is initiated. The sun has moved from the ‘dhanu’ constellation to the ‘makar’ constellation, as per the Indian solar calendar. The cycle of seasons moves from Hemant to Shishir. It is the start of the abatement of the cold weather (in the northern hemisphere).
