I know an acquaintance who would casually go to a “paan” shop, buy “paan” and talk to the “paanwaala” in an UP Bhaiyya style. If he saw a Baraat coming up with the Baraatis dancing, he would nonchalantly join the Baraat and dance a few jigs himself.

Kishore Kumar, regarded as a singer of happy songs, has sung some fantastic sad/ serious songs in his career too. “Amar Prem” in fact had not one, but quite a few serious songs. Anand Bakshi was the lyricist and R D Burman was the music director of this movie.

Watching the picturisation of this song, I cannot help feeling that the maker of this movie must have had Shammi Kapoor in mind while picturising this song. And indeed, when one listens to this song, one gets the feeling that one is listening to one of the Rafi songs sung for Shammi Kapoor.
