Also when I saw the mail I had mentally decided that whatever I send till the D-Day of our blog should be happy and peppy songs. So here I am with my own version of an invitation song.

Rajesh Khanna and Hema Malini, the top male and female stars of 1970s, combined for the first time in 1974 in “Premnagar” (1974). Rajesh Khanna’s stars were setting at that time and the movie did not do as well as most Rajesh Khanna movies did just a few years ago during his heady days as the heartthrob of movie goers.

Since I have to discuss a Rajesh Khanna song on this occasion, so let me also add some of my observations about Rajesh Khanna, with the full benefit of hindsight.

“Haathi Mere Saathi” (1971) was the most memorable movie of its time as far as kids of that era were concerned. The theme song from the movie viz. Chal chal chal mere saathi was easily the most popular song from the movie as far as kids were concerned. The other song from the movie, viz. Duniya mein rehna hai to kaam karo pyaare came next. Other songs from the movie were non kid songs and were “less” popular as far as kids were concerned.
