This song is there with for some time now. In fact I had saved the link long back, never got around to even writing down the lyrics. Than some days ago I chanced upon a link of Radio Cylon Rafi special programme on 31/07/2012. This song was the first to be played in that programme. I thought I know the song, so it must be posted. Lekin, jab song blog mein nahin milaa to iss ko aur andhere mein rakhnaa na insaafi hai.

The year is 1993. It is twenty five years now that the Dada Saheb Phalke award has been instituted. For the first time after twenty years of its inception, this prestigious award that represents a lifetime of significant contribution to the Indian cinema, is announced for a lyricist. And the recipient – Majrooh Sultanpuri.

The year of 1947 was the most prolific yet for Mukesh. Having started his singing career for Hindi films in 1941, in the six years from 1941 to 1946, he had sung a total of 21 songs in eleven films. Of these, seven are solos and fourteen are duets. As far as incremental score is concerned, the years 1945 and 1946 were very good in comparison to the years from 1941 to 1944.

Ah, finally. I have with me now, the song from the 1946 film ‘Durbaan’ that has been eluding me so far. Graciously and thankfully sent to me by another collector friend. Readers will recall that this is the one song from 1946, still waiting to be posted, as we traverse the early years of Mukesh’s career. As per records, by the end of 1946, Mukesh had sung 21 songs in eleven films (starting from 1941).
