Regulars have been noticing that I have been rather irregular in posting articles in the blog for the last few weeks. Today, May 13th, is the remembrance day of the famous Bangla singer, Utpala Sen.
Utpala’s career has primarily been associated with the Bangla cinema. Her participation in Hindi cinema is limited to less than twenty songs in about 11 films, during the years spanning the mid 1940s to mid 1950s. A large portion of her songs in Hindi cinema have been rendered under the music direction of Pankaj Mullick.
