“Sheikh Chilli” (1956) was what was then regarded as a B grade movie. But the movie appears quite A grade in its overall quality. Though this song talks of “Chanda”, “raat” etc, which are found in “Chaayaageet” songs, this song from “Chhoo Mantar” sounds more like a dance song. After all, O P Nayyar is the music director of this song, and his music tended to be dance music. In “Chaayageet” songs, we do not expect the lovelorn protagonist to dance, he/ she is just expected to sing in a slow tempo. 😉
