“Sunahri Naagin” (1963) was clearly inspired from “Naagin” (1963) except that “Sunahri Naagin” (1963) was a B grade movie and did not enjoy even a fraction of the success of “Naagin” (1954).

In Bollywood movies, it is just the hero who gets drunk. Ladies getting drunk is not considered a proper thing. So it comes as a big surprise to find both of them drunk and singing this drunkard song.

I have recently discovered this movie called “Sunahri Naagin” (1963) where Helen was the leading lady and as such she got to figure in more than just one song ! I have posted one song picturised on her already. Here is another song from this movie that is picturised on her. Mahipal can also be seen in the picturisation.

“Naagin” (1954) was a hugely influential movie in the annals of Indian movies. This movie, and its music continued to be copied for several decades.

When one watches a song picturised on Shammi Kapoor, one half expects the song to be sung by Rafi and the music to be composed by Shankar Jaikishan. And that is how it has been for much of Shammi Kapoor’s career during his heydays.
