“Mujhpe Bhi Toh Daalo Ek Nazar” sung by Asha Bhosle, penned by Varma Malik and composed by Sonik Omi.
“Maan Gaye Ustaad” (1981) was directed by Shibu Mitra for ‘Kapoor Films International, Bombay’. It was produced by S.K. Kapoor.
It starred Ashok Kumar, Shashi Kapoor, Hema Malini, Ajit, Bindu, Amjad Khan, Pran, Chandrashekhar, Rajendra Nath, Sonia Sahni, Devyani Thakkar, Uttam Sodhi, Johny, Leena Das, Jazbel, Peeloo Wadia, Mohan Choti, Rajan Haksar, Rajan Kapoor, Shetty, Murad, Ghulam Hussain, Moolchand, Gurucharan, Bhola and others. Today 25th May 2025 is the twenty-seventh Remembrance Anniversary of composer Laxmikant Kudalkar (03.11.1937-2505.1998) of the Laxmikant-Pyarelal duo. He passed away at the age of sixty years. As a tribute to him we will have a song composed by them fifty years ago i.e. from 1975.

There are movies that are well made with good story line. I, who considered myself as a moviegoer with highbrow taste ( 🙂 ) liked such movies. For example, I liked movies like Sholay, Deewaar, Don etc. Then there are movies with silly story lines that low brow audiences liked but I did not.
Some of these silly story line movies went on to become big hits whereas some movies flopped.

The cast included Sunil Dutt and Parveen Babi in lead roles supported by Madan Puri, Gulshan Arora, Brahmachari, Ved Sharma, Manhar Desai, Sabina, Paul Kanwar etc. This was the only film Yogi Kathuria produced and directed.

‘Chakra’ (1980) was produced by Manmohan Shetty and Pradeep Uppoor under the banner of Neo Films and was directed by debutant Robin Dharmaraj. The main cast included Smita Patil, Nasiruddin Shah, Kulbhushan Kharbanda and Ranjit Chowdhry with the supporting cast of Anjali Paigankar, Savita Bajaj, Suhas Bhalekar, Dilip Dhawan, Rohini Hattangadi, Sudhir Pande, Alka Kubal, Madan Jain, Salim Ghouse, Satish Kaushik, Sumant Mastakar, Arun Bakshi, Ratan Gurung etc. The film was based on a novella by the same name in Marathi written by Jaywant Dalvi, one of the greatest Marathi novelists, short story writers and the playwrights.

Yesterday 13th May 2025 was the seventy-nineth birthday of Shree Bishwanath Chatterjee compiler of Hindi Film Geet Kosh Vol-V (1971-1980).
This post is delayed on my part as I could not finish it yesterday. Earlier I had planned to visit to Nagpur for this special occasion, but it could not happen. I had spoken to our common friend Mr Avinash Shravane at Nagpur, and we thought that few likeminded friends would also attend this function. But it did not materialize. However, few friends did arrange some program as informed to me by Mr Chatterjee himself, when I called him to wish him on his birthday yesterday. (I am yet to get the updates about the function held yesterday, so that may be covered later 😊).
