Mukesh is reputed to be a singer par excellence as far as sad songs were concerned. But I am finding that Mukesh was a singer par excellence for romantic songs as well. The kinds of songs where he sings for the lady sound so sincere and sensuous that these songs have no option but to straighaway walk into the hall of fame of immortal songs.

In Bollywood movies, only hero and heroine seem to have tender feelings seeing that only they get to sing romantic songs. Villains on the other hand seem to have hearts made of granite and they do not have any tender feelings of love etc.

This is the kind of song that I fondly call a “chayageet song” which by its nature is a romantic song if you are in the right mood, or a sleep inducing song if you are not, since such songs are sung at night time. 😉
