Kamsune/Unsune songs of Asha Bhosle – 16

This kumsuna or rarely heard song is a typical peppy number by Pancham, which is sung effortlessly by Asha Bhosle. The song under discussion is “Main Tera Naam Jaanoon Na” from Laakhon Mein Ek 1971. It is penned by Anand Bakshi.

“Laakhon Mein Ek” (1971) is a Hindi social drama film directed by S.S. Balan and produced by Gemini Studios. It stars Mehmood in the lead role, with supporting performances by Radha Saluja, Pran, Nasir Hussain, and Mukri.

The song in this post is from the movie ‘Rickshaawaalaa-1973’. I have no recollections of having watched this movie earlier. However, since the music of this film is composed by none other than Rahul Dev Burman, I wish to take up the songs from this movie. So far two songs from this movie have already been posted on the blog. The music of this film is very good. But I think it was forgotten easily as the movie itself was not a successful movie of its time. This movie was a remake of a successful Tamil movie “Rickshawkaran”, which starred the superstar of Tamil Cinema M G Ramachandran. The Tamil movie was released on 29 May 1971, and It was a major commercial success, however its remake in Hindi could not achieve the same success and it turned out to be a disaster.

Today’s song is from a so called “social” film made by Filmistan. The story of this film clearly indicates that it was a “Costume” film about the usual King, Queen and a wicked Vazir. I am surprised how they could do such a blunder. Surely, the posters would have given away the real Genre of the film and no one would have accepted this film as a Social film, as claimed by Filmistan. Maybe it was an error by HFGK itself.
