I had in my earlier posts under this series mentioned that this year ‘2021’ is ‘special’ for movies of the year ‘1971’, because all the movies released over the year in ‘1971’ will be completing the FIFTY years of their respective releases. And as this decade ‘2021-2030’ will progress, the movies released over the years ‘1971-1980’ will progressively be completing ‘fifty years’ of released’.

23 rd September was Tanuja’s 77th Birthday and 25th September, 2020 is the 81st birth Anniversary of Feroze Khan. Incidentally, these two have acted opposite each other in at least one film, i.e. Ek Paheli (1971). These are three songs already posted in the blog from this film :

I got my first copy of HFGK in February’2015. After going through this ‘geet-kosh’ and movie details, I planned to take up this series. My aim was to introduce movies of this decade of seventies i.e. 1971-1980. It also offered me the opportunity of sharing my ‘nostalgia’ associated with the movies of this decade. Some of these movies were seen by me while others were not.

Today (3 august 2020) happens to be the festival of Raakhi. Seeing that we are in the grips of a pandemic, most festivals in India are coming and going without much celebration. Things are not what they used to be till last year. Hopefully, we will be able to overcome this pandemic and will be able to celebrate all festivals and all other occasions of get together with the same kind of impunity that was taken for granted till a few months ago.

“Insaaf” is a title that is like Halley’s comet. It arrives in Hindi movie scene at ten year intervals or so, We have seen movies titles “Insaaf” being released in 1946, 1956, 1966, after break of one decade, it appeared again in 1987.
“Insaaf”(1956) was produced by Ravjibhai U Patel and Natwar Shyam and directed by Kedar Kapoor for Bhagyoday Pictures, Bombay. This movie had Nalini Jaiwant, Ajeet, Kamal Kapoor, Tiwari, Kamal, Sagar, Ramesh Tiwari, Helen, Durga Khote, Johny Walker etc in it.

Hullo Atuldom
Ideally this post should have come last year, when this veteran of about a few hundred movies, turned 80. But then that has not happened.
I have decided that we shall not let the occasion go unnoticed. And in south India, the celebration for a person turning 80 is normally on completing 81, as the system of calculating the auspicious date to celebrate says that the person should have witnessed a 1000 full moons in his life, with the life being said to have started after the 1st birthday. Etc. Etc. Etc.
