“Dukhiyaari”(1948) was directed by D K Ratan for Jeevan Jyot Kala Mandir, Bombay. The movie had Surendra, Trilok Kapoor, Meena, Ranjeet Kumari, Cuckoo, Chaand Burque, Majnu, Bhudo Advani, Ramesh Mohan, Chandramohan etc in it.

Four songs from this movie has been discussed in the past.

Here is the fifth song from this obscure movie. This song is sung by Surendra. F M Kaiser is the lyricist. Gyan Dutt is the music director.

Only the audio of this song is available. Seeing that Surendra was an actor-singer and his name figures in the cast, it is clear that the song was picturised on himself. And going by the lyrics, one can guess that a heart broken Surendra is singing this song as his “majboor” beloved is getting married to someone else- a standard fare in Hindi movies that would then lead to a melancholic song like this.

Song-Ab hamko bhula do kehte hain (Dukhiyaari)(1948) Singer-Surendra, Lyrics-F M Kaiser, MD-Gyan Dutt

Lyrics

ab hamko bhula do
kehte hain
kehte hain
kehte thhe kabhi jo bhulaana na
bhulaana na
bhulaana na
wo apni nazar se kehte thhe
ghar dil mein kisi ke banaana na
bhulaana na
bhulaana na

tu shaad raho
aabaad raho
majbooriyon ka ab jikr hi kya
majbooriyon ka ab jikr hi kya
taqdeer hi bigdi jab apni
phir tumse karen shiqwa kaisa
phir tumse karen shiqwa kaisa

haa aa aa
haaye
ho shaadi mubaarak tumko
meri barbaadi ka gham khaana na
bhulaana na
bhulaana na
ab hamko bhula do kehte hain
kehte thhe kabhi jo bhulaana na

jis roz mili thhi tumse nazar
aayenge ye din thhi kisko khabar
wahaan geet khushi ke hain aen aen lab par
armaanon ka maatam hai idhar
wahaan geet khushi ke hain lab par
armaanon ka maatam hai idhar
ae dil tadapne se haasil
wo ho gaya jo thha hona na
bhulaana na
bhulaana na
ab hamko bhula do kehte hain
kehte thhe kabhi jo bhulaana na

wahaan varsha hogi ee ee phoolon ki
phoolon ki ee
phoolon ki
yahaan ashqon ki aankhon se
lage jhadi
yahaan ashqon ki aankhon se
lage jhadi
wahaan naachen umangen
wahaan naachen umangen har lahza
yahaan dushman e jaan ek ek ghadi
yahaan dushman e jaan ek ek ghadi
ae dard sambhalne de thham jaa
thham jaa
ae hasrat e dil tadpaana na
bhulaana na
bhulaana na aa
