There are several Hindi movies with grand sounding titles, but here is a very homely kind of a title for a movie. It is called “Mera Ghar Mere Bachche” (1960), which means “My home and my kids”. How very plebian !

“Raajhath” (1956) was a movie starring Pradeep Kumar and Mabhubala. This movie had some lovely songs in it. I have posted two songs from this movie already including the fabulous Ye waada karo chand ke saamne.

Few People of my generation may have heard of this movie called “Poonam” (1952) and same is the case as far as the songs of this movie are concerned. But when I listened to the songs of this movie, I was quite impressed.

Dekho mera dil machal gayaa

Shankar of Shankar Jaikishan promoted Sharda in a big way and this led to considerably difference of opinion between the duo. Sharda had an unconventional voice and she obviously was limited in her range compared to say Lata who was the female singer of choice by default for them till then.
