“1942 A Love Story” (1993) was a movie which was produced by Vidu Vinod Chopra and directed by Vidu Vinod Chopra. The movie, despite its publicity, was no great shakes.

But the music of this movie was quite a revelation. This movie was released a few months after the death of R D Burman. When music lovers heard the music of this movie, they sat up and took notice. Some reviwers even went as far as to state that this was the music ever composed by R D Burman ! When I went on to watch the movie, I found the movie quite a let down. The movie was supposed to be a period movie on 1942 but all the characters dressed, looked and behaved like people of 1990s.
