By the first decade of the millenium, Lata Mangeshkar’s share in Hindi movie playback had dwindled to a trickle. Searching for her songs in movie of this decade was like searching for needle in a haystack.

“Dunno Y..Na Jaane Kyun”(2010) was produced by Rajkumari Satyaprakash and Yuvraaj Parashar and directed by Sanjay Sharma for Movies Masti Magic Studios. The movie had Kapil Kaustubh Sharma aka Kapil Sharma, Zeenat Aman, Kabir Bedi, Hazel Croney, Helen, Yuvraj Parashar, Asha Sachdev, Rituparna Dasgupta, Parikshat Sahni, Maradona Rebello, Mahabanoo Modi-Kotwal, Vinay Apte, Tara Sharma etc. Special appearances were by Aryan Vaid, Vivek Vaswani,Tara Sharma. “Bullet”(1976) was directed by Vijay Anand for Navketan Productions on the occasion of the silver jubilee of this production house. This movie had Dev Anand, Parveen Babi, Rakesh Roshan, Kabir Bedi, Jyoti Bakshi (new discovery), Sonia Sahni, Shreeram Laagoo, Jagdeep, Mohan Sherry, Ranjana Sachdev, Murad, Ranjan, Sheela, Shefali, Jazebel, Julie, Ratna, Julien, Mamaji, Moolchand, Sharat Saxena etc in it.

The fourth and final song left to be covered is in fact the first song in the movie. It is the title song of the movie as well, where the word bullet appears more than fifty times.
Sudhir Jee, in his comments to the earlier song mentions that
Praveen Babi is the love interest of Dev Anand, and Jyoti Bakshi is the love interest of Rakesh Roshan. Both are police officers. Praveen Babi works for Kabir Bedi, who is actually a gangster. Dev Anand is after him, but Kabir Bedi is successful in getting Dev Anand suspended from the police force on fabricated charges.
In the sequence of events, Jyoti Bakshi gets killed, and that pits Rakesh Roshan against Dev Anand, as the suspicion falls on the latter. Dev Anand then visits Kabir Bedi in his office and drops a bullet on his table, and challenges him that this bullet carries his (Kabir Bedi’s name) and that his days are numbered. That is where the title of the film comes from.
The song is sung by Kishore Kumar. Anand Bakshi is the lyricist. Music is composed by R D Burman.
With this song, “Bullet”(1976) joins the list of movies that have all their songs covered in the blog.

From the very early childhood, probably the deepest interest that I have is gathering and storing away in memory – facts, curious info, peculiar data, and a plethora of such interesting information that I would use (still use 🙂 ) to make interesting conversations and, ahem, impressing others :). In short, I have been a General Knowledge (GK) buff since I was toddler. In my class, I was known as the best and the worst – always scored the highest, mostly perfect scores, in the GK papers, and always, without fail, scored the lowest in art and painting. (The art teachers were generous; they would give me just enough not to spoil my averages.)

“Sazaa” (1972) was produced by S K Kapur and directed by Chaand. The movie had Kabir Bedi, Yogita Bali, Faryal, Ashok Kumar, Jeetendra, Rekha, Helen, Rajendranath, Pran, Madan Puri, Kamaldeep, Sonia Sahni, Junior Mehmood etc in it.

I have heard this song “jab bhi ye dil udaas hota hai” quite a few times in the past and I have liked it too. It is an ideal song when you feel sad, as the song says.
