SHANKAR-JAIKISHEN IN THE 50s….Song No 4
————————————————

After having lost the melody and sweetness in their music post Junglee and after an attempt to redeem their prestige with a few sporadic melodies, Shankar Jaikishan came closest to their earlier magic with Teesri Kasam-66. SHANKAR-JAIKISHEN IN THE 50s….Song No.3
———————————————–

Shammi Kapoor became a representative of the Rebel Youth of his times and the music in his films became loud and unmusical, as it remained only an aid to heighten his presence on the screen. Market Savvy Shankar Jaikishan started composing only those songs which served this purpose, thus sacrificing melody considering it redundant in his compositions.

After Shankar-Jaikishan, no new solo composer, barring perhaps R D Burman, tasted such consistent success. Even R D Burman confessed that in the 1980s, he lost out to competition from duos everywhere.
