“Man Mandir” (1971), which is a new movie by the standards of this blog, starred Waheeda Rehman and Sanjeev Kumar. This movie, by most indications was a flop. This movie had some nice songs in it, though, which were popular at that time. I loved these songs though at that time I was not aware that those songs were from this movie. I have already discussed two such songs from this movie in this blog.

“Night in London” (1967) is a movie that was clearly inspired from “An Evening in Paris” (1966). “Night in Paris” (1967) had Vishwajeet and Mala Sinha (as against Shammi Kapoor and Sharmila Tagore in “An Evening in Paris”). On the music front, “Night in London” had the fast rising Laxmikant Pyarelal.

“Mehboob Ki Mehandi” (1971) is a movie starring Rajesh Khanna and Leena Chandawarkar. This Muslim social movie had some wonderful songs in it, which remain popular to this day.

Bataa doon kyaa laanaa

I was very surprised to see this song being given as a farmaaish because I thought that this song was discussed long back. On checking, I found that I was wrong of course. Perhaps I may have planned to discuss this song but I did not.

I am aware about this movie called “Dillagi” (1949) which was replete with timeless evergreen songs. It turns out that there is another movie of the same name that was released in 1966.

Meghwaa gagan beech jhaanke

In mainstream Hindi movies of the golden era, there used to be a dance situation in a night club, which was tailor made for a cabarat dance by Helen. Movie makers whose movies were based on pre cabarat dance eras (viz Historical/mythological/Fantasy movies)also found dance situations where Helen and other dacing ladies were shown to dance in the courts of Kings.

“Harishchandra Taramati” (1963) was a mythological movie in which Prithviraj Kapoor and Jaimala had played the lead (and title) roles with Bablu playing their son.

“Satyakaam” (1969), which was a critically acclaimed movie that failed at the box office, had some nice songs in it which have sadly been forgotten with time. And there are people like me who never heard the songs of this movie, despite living though that era.
