When I was young, I loved making records- no, not the kind of records that played on record players, but the kind which gave you gloating rights. For instance, there were people who would have the record of watching every movie on the first day, first show, and there were some people who would boast of watching the same movie 100 times.

There were two movies called “Chhaila Babu” that I know of. And incidentally, both these movies, which were made in 1960s and 1970s respectively, had the same music directors, viz Laxmikant Pyarelal.

“Dosti” (1964) was a simple movie with a simple uncomplicated message, and the message went home. This small budget movie with no stars (which was the first movie of Rajshree productions) went on to become a hit movie.

I have posted as many as four songs from “Dosti” (1964). There were six songs in this movie as far as I remember. Who knows, there may have been more songs in it that I am not aware or which may have been excluded from the movie.

While watching old movie songs, sometimes we come across kids with names sounding familiar to present day fans. And they tend to believe that these kids are the same TV/ movie personality they know. But that is not always the case.

“Jeet” (1972) was a movie in which Randhir Kapoor was the hero. And even the best efforts from Laxmikant Pyarelal’s music could not save this movie from flopping.
