Given that today is the celebration of Holi. Also given that there is this Hindi film which has a title based on this festival name. Further given that this film has a wonderful song which celebrates this festival, and the song ‘mukhda’ is based on the title of the film, which, as I said before, is based on this festival name. Then another given that this song has been quite popular in its time, and exists in the collective memory of the music lovers. Plus also given that this film is from 1970, which is an era that is verily fresh in the minds of the bandwagon companions, and other contemporary lovers of music. Furthermore. We have been celebrating Holi on this blog for eight years in a row now.

Mohammed Rafi – ‘अ’  से  ‘ह’ तक  (From ‘अ’ to ‘ह’) – 15
– – – – – – – – – – – – – – – – – – – – – – – – – –

‘छ’
“छोड़िए गुस्सा हुज़ूर ऐसी नाराज़ी भी क्या”

वो बादशाह सुरों का (He, the monarch of musical notes)

This phrase is used as the intro caption by one of the fans who uploads many songs of Rafi Sb on YouTube. (His name is Ahsaan Qasim.  He is a dear friend, and part of the wide circle of collector friends).

I have discussed in one of my earlier posts, about Rafi Sb’s cognizance of the emotional intent of a song, and his ability to capture and express its exact flavor and nuance, when he would sing it. This ability made his playback voice so intensely an integral subsumed part of the on screen performance, that his voice seemed to dissolve into the persona on screen, losing its own identity. And Rafi Sb had no favorites in this regard. His voice became the voice of any and every actor who lip synced his songs on screen. No other singer in this domain has been able to emulate This remarkable and pervasive characteristic of Rafi Sb’s singing. Other singers either have a very unique characteristic of their singing voice that is identifiable in every song they have given their voice to, or the identity of their voice matches the identity of some select actors and on screen roles. As I said, the pervasiveness of this ability of Rafi Sb continues to be unmatched.

MISSING GEMS FROM THE GOLDEN 50s…Song No. 18….LAST SONG OF THIS SERIES
—————————————————————————
Today’s song is from film Bewaqoof-60. This is the last song of this series. This series has been very interesting and it gave a pleasure of discussing songs from the 50’s decade. Some of the songs were well known and popular in those times and the most others were good enough to provide nostalgic feelings.

Today’s article happens to be my 400 th article on this Blog. I started writing consistently on this Blog from 1-10-2012. Thanks to ATUL ji’s encouragement and active substantial help in writing Lyrics for me,I was able to reach the figure of 400 articles on songs in 30 months. This is an average of about 13-14 songs every month. During these months, our readers from all over the music loving world gave comments of appreciation, which worked as a motivation for me. In this period,I did 21 series of songs on different Themes. My endeavour has always been to present forgotten pearls from Hindi films and side by side, provide useful, unique information on films, songs, singers, composers, actors, directors, production houses, mythology and behind the scene stories.
