But another, and far more effective way is to go through the farmaishes of readers on the farmaish page, and look for those songs. That is what I am consciously doing these days, and it has been a highly rewarding experience.

“Naghmaa” (1953) is a movie about which very little is known. The video of its songs are apparently not available so we only have audio of songs of this movie. I have so far discussed two songs from this movie.

Here is a song from “Naghma” (1953). Only the audio of this song is available so it is difficult to tell who the actor was on whom this song was picturised. For that matter I find it difficult to say who the singer is. All sources describe the voice as Shamshad Begam’s though the voice sounds rather different to me. Can anyone confirm/correct who the singer could be ?

“Mahal” (1949) was a movie starring Asho Kumar and a very young Madhubala. This movie is also remembered as the one which launched Lata’s career as a playback singer. Her songs in this movie became very popular and one of the songs, viz Aayega aanewaala aayega became a timeless classic.
