“Aadhi Raat” (1950) is a movie which was a Kuldip pictures production. It was directed by S K Ojha. This movie had Ashok Kumar and Nargis in lead roles. But if IMDB is to be believed then Cuckoo, Jeewan and Kuldip Kaur were the stars of this movie. 🙂

“Aadhi Raat” (1950) is a movie starring Ashok Kumar and Nargis, no less ! I never knew that this duo ever worked in a movie together. Not only did they work together, they even lip synced a duet in the movie. And that too a duet sung by Lata and Rafi.

“Adalat” (1958) was a movie starring Pradeep Kumar and Nargis. Quite an add couple, and the movie apparently failed at the box office. But what music this movie had ! Almost all the songs of this movie must be regarded as timeless classics.

In olden days, most Hindi movie going population used to be quite simple and naive. Give them the usual song and dance and they went back home happy. But if you gave them anthing different, they they would be out of their depth and fail to turn up to watch such movies. So I am not suprised that movies made on nonmainstream themes failed to attract audiences, even when they won critical acclaim and even Government awards.

“Sheesha” (1952) is an obscure movie which was produced by Asian Picturs and it had actors like Sajjan,Nargis,Vimla,Amar,Achla Sachdev, Zebu, Anwari, Cuckoo, Majnu etc in it.

I have discussed three songs from this movie so far. Here is another song from this movi. This obscure song (at least for me) is sung by Lata. The song is written by an unknown lyricist called Umar Ansari. Music is composed by Ghulam Mohammad.
